Junior Chemistry Analyst (2 Positions)

GENERAL

Job Title: Junior Chemistry Analyst

Reports to: Department Manager

Department/Service: Chemistry Department

KEY FUNCTIONS:

Under the close supervision of the department manager and in accordance with laboratory procedures of the company, receives samples and undertakes simple chemical testing and analysis and report preparation; and participates in training, consulting, research and development activities; actively absorbs all training and

Coaching schemes provided to him/her.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receives samples and undertakes simple chemical testing and analysis and prepares report son same;
• Participates and absorbs actively all training and coaching schemes provided to him/her;
• Collects, organizes and analyses simple test results data and submits draft reports to the Department Manager or Lead Analyst for review and approval;
• Monitors and supervises analysis of control sample viz. proficiency testing, control charts, blank and spiked samples;
• Manages and operates high tech equipment with technical support;
• Prepares work plan and laboratory items with specifications;
• Ensures adherence to Good Laboratory Practice;
• Prepares periodic reports and statistical analysis of results obtained on product basis;
• Participates in activities promoting and marketing the services of the department;
• Participates in training, consulting, research and development activities of the company;
• Absorbs all training and coaching schemes provided to him/her actively; and
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Department Manager.

Education:

• BSc in Applied Chemistry, Chemistry, Food Chemistry or closely related fields

Experience:

• None

COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of laboratory testing, analyses and management practices and procedures;
• Some knowledge of food laboratory quality assurance methods, techniques and tools;
