DEC is a local CSO established in 2007 and re-registered in May 2019 as per the new Authority for CSO Proclamation by the Ethiopian government, bearing a registration number of 0009. The organization has five major programs: the Child Well-being and Education Development Program, the Gender and Life Skill Development Program, the Employable Skills Development Program, the Advocacy Program, and the Humanitarian Emergency Program.

DEC actively works in six National Regional States and one city administration of Ethiopia, namely Amhara, Afar, Oromia, Tigray, Gambela, Benishangul Gumuz, and Addis Ababa City Administration. DEC would like to recruit for the following positions: Project Coordinator, Education in Emergency EiE Project Officer, Social Worker/Community Mobilizer, Meal Officer, Gender and Inclusive Officer, Finance Coordinator, Woreda Caher, and Guard

Social Worker/Community Mobilizer

Job Summary

Provide critical psychosocial support, crisis intervention, and resource coordination for individuals and families affected by disasters or conflict. They assess urgent needs, connect people to shelter, food, and medical care, and advocate for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. The role also includes emotional support, safeguarding, and helping communities navigate recovery and resilience efforts

Role and Responsibilities

• Create awareness on services , on key issues of empowerment and enhance social cohesion among communities
• Ensure integration of social work with other programs in the organization for holistic approach..
• Work with program beneficiaries such as caregivers and other relevant institutions for community participation.
• Review social work documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Offer high-level psychosocial support to target beneficiaries for deserving cases.

Education Qualification

• BA Social worker, Sociology, Psychology, Development study

NGO/CSO Experience

• 2 Years

Additional skill

• Good experience in community mobilization or social work.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills.
• Fluent in the Local language
