ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW

The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), re-established by proclamation No. 1133/2011, is the constitutionally mandated body to conduct elections, organize referendum and regulate political parties in Ethiopia. NEBE is working to boost its’ institutional strength with a special focus on enhancement of human resource capacity. Accordingly, NEBE would like to invite applicants for Junior Social Media Expert II position who meet the following requirements.

Reports to: Head of Communications Department

Duty station: Addis Ababa

Duration: Contract (6 months)

Salary: As per the organization salary scale (Competitive)

Job Summary

The Junior Social Media Expert is responsible for supporting the management, content creation, and day-to-day administration of NEBE’s social media platforms. This role ensures timely dissemination of accurate information, enhances public engagement, and upholds NEBE’s brand and communication guidelines. The expert will collaborate with internal teams to produce quality content, monitor online interactions, and contribute to NEBE’s transparency and outreach efforts.

Duties and responsibilities

Social Media Administration & Content Creation

  • Manage and update NEBE’s official social media platforms on a daily basis.
  • Prepare, draft, schedule, and post content including announcements, news updates, events, directives, declarations, and notices ensuring clarity, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Assist in the development of social media content plans aligned with NEBE’s strategic communication priorities.
  • Contribute creative ideas to enhance the visibility, engagement, and accessibility of social media content.
  • Respond to comments, messages, and public inquiries professionally and in accordance with NEBE’s communication protocols.
  • Support the organization and hosting of online engagements such as live sessions, webinars, or stakeholder discussions.

Monitoring, Reporting & Analysis

  • Monitor social media activity, track audience engagement, and observe online discussions relevant to NEBE.
  • Generate periodic performance reports using analytics tools, identifying trends and user feedback.
  • Recommend adjustments to improve content reach, engagement, and overall platform performance.

Collaboration & Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with the design, content, and communications teams to ensure coherent messaging across all platforms.
  • Consult with departments to gather information and verify content accuracy before posting.
  • Support cross-departmental communication initiatives requiring social media inputs.

Quality Assurance & Brand Consistency

  • Uphold NEBE’s brand standards across all published content.
  • Conduct basic quality checks on visuals, captions, and multimedia materials before release.
  • Review posts for clarity, accuracy, and grammatical correctness.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Any other duties as assigned by the NEBE Communication Specialist

Specification:

Education:

  • Masters or Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • 2 years for Masters or 4 years for BA relevant experience in social media management, digital communication, content creation, or related areas.
