Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Physiotherapist to join our team. Ideal candidates will have a strong desire to learn and grow in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of children with intellectual disabilities to identify their physical needs and limitations.
  • Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans based on assessment findings, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Implement evidence-based physiotherapy interventions, techniques, and exercises to improve motor skills, mobility, coordination, and physical function.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of children undergoing physiotherapy interventions, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide education and guidance to parents/caregivers on appropriate home exercises, adaptive equipment, and techniques to support the child’s physical development.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of intellectual disability and physiotherapy.
  • Adhere to ethical and professional standards, ensuring confidentiality and respect for the rights of children and their families.
  • Contribute to research activities and program development initiatives related to intellectual disabilities and physiotherapy.

Full-time term contract

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
  • Valid physiotherapy license
  • Strong knowledge of neurodevelopmental and motor disorders associated with intellectual disabilities.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based physiotherapy interventions and techniques for children with intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate physiotherapy interventions effectively.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and engage with children and their families.
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children with intellectual disabilities.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken Amharic and English language.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and staying updated with the latest research and practices in the field.
