Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is non-governmental, non-political and non-partisan consortium of 80 Women, Girls and Children focused on Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) that are engaged on the empowerment and gender equality in all regional states and city administrations of Ethiopia. UEWCA was established in 2010 as a platform to voice the voice of its members and beneficiaries as well as to capacitate and coordinate the efforts of its member CSOs and Stakeholders towards seeing well-dignified, empowered, healthy, vibrant and visionary women, girls and children in Ethiopia.

EHF-Funded Humanitarian Project | Amhara Region

Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is a non-governmental, apolitical and non-religious consortium of civil society organizations (CSOs) working to advance the rights and well-being of women, girls and children. Established in 2010, UEWCA is engaging in women’s and girls’ empowerment, child well-being, socioeconomic development, climate change and humanitarian response and gender equality across Ethiopia’s regional states and city administrations.

UEWCA intends to execute a project entitled Integrated WASH, Agriculture, Protection and Multi-Purpose Cash Response to Acute Malnutrition and Public Health Risks in selected Woredas of Amhara Region to respond to the interconnected humanitarian needs of vulnerable and crisis-affected populations in Ebnat Woreda in South Gondar Zone and East Belesa and Kinfaz Begela Woredas in Central Gondar Zone, Amhara Region. The intervention addresses the effects of conflict, displacement, drought and climate-related shocks, which have disrupted livelihoods, limited access to essential services and increased protection risks. The project will deliver integrated WASH, agriculture, protection and multi-purpose cash assistance, to reach vulnerable and crisis-affected people.

ABOUT THE CALL

We are pleased to announce the Multi-Year Grants (MYG) funding opportunity under the Renewed Women’s Voice and Leadership – Ethiopia (RWVL-E) Project, a six-year initiative implemented by CARE Ethiopia in partnership with CARE Canada and six Principal Partners: ECD, UEWCA, NEWA, EWLA, TIMRAN, and YWCA.

Eligible women’s rights organizations and women’s rights networks are invited to apply for flexible, longer-term funding to strengthen organizational capacity, advance women’s rights and gender equality, and contribute to sustainable movements. Besides funding, the grant offers organizational development, accompaniment, learning, networking, and movement building.

02. INVITATION TO BID: Right to Food Monitoring Assessment in Amhara Regional State: A Case Study in Tehuledere Woreda

Job Description

The Union of Ethiopian Women and Children Associations (UEWCA) is a women-led, non-governmental and non-political civil society organization working to promote and protect the rights and well-being of women, children and other vulnerable and marginalized groups in Ethiopia.

UEWCA invites qualified and experienced consultants and consulting firms to submit technical and financial proposals to conduct a Right to Food Monitoring Assessment in Amhara Regional State, with an in-depth case study in Tehuledere Woreda, South Wollo Zone. The assessment applies the FAO Right to Food Monitoring and Assessment Framework, with structural indicators reviewed at national level and process and outcome indicators assessed at regional and Tehuledere levels.

03. Field-Level Cashier (3 Positions)

Job Description

Duty station: Target woredas in Amhara Region (one cashier per assigned woreda)

Report to: Senior Accountant

Key responsibilities:

Facilitate authorized project-related cash payments and support beneficiary payment processes in line with approved procedures.
Maintain accurate cashbooks, payment records, vouchers, receipts and other supporting documentation.
Ensure cash is handled, stored, transported and disbursed safely, transparently and in accordance with UEWCA financial procedures and EHF requirements.
Support cash counts, reconciliations, liquidation and financial reporting; promptly report discrepancies or suspected irregularities to finance staff.
Coordinate closely with field project staff and the finance team and maintain orderly filing of financial documents.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
A minimum of five years relevant experience in cash handling, payment processing, bookkeeping or finance support; NGO experience is an advantage.
Good numerical, record-keeping and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
Integrity, confidentiality and the ability to follow financial controls and work under pressure.
Basic computer skills; familiarity with accounting or spreadsheet applications is an advantage.

04. Livelihood Officer (3 Positions)

Job Description

Report to: Regional Coordinator

Key responsibilities:

Support implementation of CSA, agriculture and livelihood activities, including beneficiary identification and verification.
Coordinate the distribution and follow-up of quality seeds, agricultural tools, livestock feed, animal-health support and other approved livelihood inputs.
Support drought-power/land-preparation assistance, post-harvest storage and promotion of climate-smart agricultural practices, as relevant to the approved plan.
Coordinate with woreda agriculture offices, extension workers, community structures and project teams.
Conduct field monitoring, collect and verify activity data, maintain distribution records and prepare timely reports.
Ensure transparent beneficiary selection, community feedback, safeguarding and inclusion of women, persons with disabilities and other at-risk groups.

At least 3 years for Masters and 5 years for Bachelor Degree of NGO experience in agricultural/livelihood programming; humanitarian experience is an advantage.
Knowledge of agricultural input distribution, CSA, livestock support, beneficiary targeting and field monitoring.
Good communication, documentation and reporting skills, and ability to work with rural communities.
Fluency in both written and spoken English and Amharic.

Key responsibilities:

Coordinate and monitor approved WASH activities, including rehabilitation and repair of water points and schemes.
Support water treatment and storage activities, hygiene promotion, community mobilization and distribution of WASH-related materials.
Work with woreda water offices, community water committees, contractors/service providers and other relevant stakeholders.
Conduct field supervision and quality checks, identify technical issues and follow up on corrective actions.

06. Case Management Officer (3 Positions)

Job Description

Reports to: Regional Coordinator

Key responsibilities:

Provide survivor-centred, confidential, safe and inclusive protection case management services in line with approved guidelines.
Identify and assess protection concerns, develop individualized case action plans, provide follow-up and facilitate safe referrals to appropriate services.
Maintain secure, accurate and confidential case files and service records, sharing information only with authorized persons and with appropriate consent.
Coordinate with relevant service providers and protection actors, including GBV and child protection services, as appropriate to the role and training.
Support protection monitoring, community awareness, referral pathway updates and access to MHPSS or other specialized services.
Apply do-no-harm, informed consent, confidentiality, best interests of the child, safeguarding and PSEA principles; escalate urgent safety concerns through established procedures.
Prepare anonymized activity reports and contribute to monitoring without disclosing identifying survivor information.

Minimum qualifications and experience:

Bachelor’s degree or Masters in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences or a related field.
At least 3 years for Master’s Degree and 5 years for BA degree of NGO experience in protection, GBV/child protection case management or social services.
Training and practical knowledge in survivor-centred case management, confidentiality, safe referrals and safeguarding are highly desirable.
