The lead company of this project contractor—China Civil Engineering Ethiopia Construction Co., Ltd. (CCECC Ethiopia)—is headquartered in Addis Ababa, and operates across six countries in infrastructure markets: Ethiopia, Djibouti, Kenya, South Sudan, Somalia, and Eritrea. The professional design subcontractor of this project – China Railway First Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. (FSDI) is a leading state-owned enterprise in China with comprehensive top-tier qualifications in engineering survey and design. With decades of experience in transportation infrastructure survey and design, FSDI possesses rich project experience and top technical strength in expressways, railways, and other fields. It is deeply involved in key transportation projects such as the Ethiopia-Djibouti Transport Corridor, strictly following international and local standards including AASHTO and ERA, and is committed to delivering safe, efficient, and durable transportation infrastructure for the local area.

Successful candidates will be employed by CCECC and integrate into the FSDI design team to undertake professional design tasks

Job Title: Geometric Design Engineer

Number of positions: (2 Positions)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in geometric design of the expressway (horizontal, vertical, cross-sections) in line with AASHTO and ERA standards
• Support route scheme comparison based on topography, geology, and project needs
• Prepare and localize design drawings according to local standards
• Coordinate with stakeholders (clients, government, supervisors) for design approval
• Provide on-site technical support and resolve construction-related design issues
• Manage design changes and maintain proper documentation and archiving

Contract Duration

• 9 months (extendable based on project progress)

Employment Type Full-time.

Job Requirements

Basic Requirements

• Ethiopian nationality; familiar with local laws, regulations, cultural customs and transportation industry policies (ERA requirements); knowledgeable about regulations in project regions (Oromia Region, Somali Region).
• Age: 25–48 years old; physically healthy; able to adapt to on-site working pace with good stress tolerance and flexibility.

Professionalism: Strong sense of responsibility, dedication and teamwork; clear communication; meticulous and detail-oriented; able to complete tasks on time with high standard; comply with project quality, safety and environmental management requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Road Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 10 years of experience, including at least 6 years in geometric design
• Experience in large-scale expressway projects preferred
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and office software
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO and ERA standards
• Excellent English communication skills
• Chinese language is an advantage
• Valid Ethiopian professional engineering license
