EthSwitch, established in 2011, is a share company, and the National Switch is Owned by all banks(Private and Public) the National Bank of Ethiopia, MFIs, PIIs and PSOs. It is established mainly to provide simple, affordable, secured, and efficient e-payment infrastructure services to retail payment service providers, and through them, to end users in Ethiopia; by deploying state-of-the-art technology along with highly skilled and motivated professionals. The underling mandate of EthSwitch is contributing to the modernization of the national payments system and enhancement of financial inclusion in the country. Since 2016, it has enabled interoperability of ATMs and POS terminals operated by all banks. Currently, it is also rolling out projects to achieve interoperability of  other digital payment platforms operated by all financial service providers []

01. Senior Public Relation Officer (Re-advertised)

Job Summary

The Senior Public Relation Officer assists his/her manager in executing marketing strategies that drive public relations activities that enhance the organization’s image, reputation, and stakeholder engagement. This role involves executing media relations, drafting and reviewing communication materials, overseeing PR campaigns, and coordinating events that promote the organization’s values and objectives. Provides expert advice on communication issues, ensures consistent brand messaging across all channels, and plays a key role in crisis communication management.

About You

  • BA/MA/MBA in Marketing Management, Management or related fields of studies
  • 5/3 years of relevant work experience out of which 2 years in officer position

02. Graduate Product Advocacy & Sales Associate (30 Positions)

Job Summary

About the Role

EthSwitch is looking for energetic, confident, and motivated fresh graduates to promote financial products and services, educate potential customers, generate Volume, and build strong customer relationships.

This is an entry-level opportunity with training, performance incentives, and career-development potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote IPS products through field visits, Customer awareness presentations, events, social media, and direct customer engagement.
  • Explain product features, benefits, prices, and appropriate uses clearly and accurately.
  • Explain how the product works for Merchants
  • Conduct product demonstrations and awareness campaigns.
  • Meet assigned Volume targets.
  • Maintain positive relationships with Financial Institutions, customers, partners, Merchants and retailers, and all stakeholders.
  • Collect customer feedback and report market trends and competitor activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of FIs and Merchants visits, leads, sales, and follow-up activities.
  • Support promotional campaigns, exhibitions, and product-launch events.
  • Represent EthSwitch S.C. professionally and follow its ethical sales and communication standards with neat dressing attires.

03. Senior Platform Developer

Job Purpose

The Senior Software Developer will lead the design, development, integration, and support of secure, scalable digital wallet and agency banking solutions. The role requires extensive experience in financial technology, payment platforms, system integrations, and high-volume transaction processing.

The successful candidate will work closely with product, operations, security, infrastructure, compliance, and business teams to deliver reliable financial services for customers, agents, merchants, and partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital wallet and agency banking platforms.
  • Lead the technical architecture of scalable, secure, and highly available financial systems.
  • Develop and maintain services for:
    • Customer and agent onboarding
    • Wallet creation and management
    • Cash-in and cash-out transactions
    • Peer-to-peer and merchant payments
    • Bill payments and airtime purchases
    • Bank-to-wallet and wallet-to-bank transfers
    • Agent float and liquidity management
    • Commission calculation and settlement
    • Transaction limits, fees, and pricing
    • Transaction reversal and dispute management
  • Build and maintain APIs for banks, payment switches, mobile network operators, billers, merchants, and third-party service providers.
  • Integrate platforms with core banking systems, payment gateways, card processors, identity services, and regulatory reporting systems.
  • Ensure transaction integrity, idempotency, reconciliation, auditability, and end-to-end traceability.
  • Implement strong authentication, authorization, encryption, fraud controls, and transaction-monitoring mechanisms.
  • Lead code reviews and enforce software development, security, and documentation standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex production incidents within agreed service levels.
  • Improve system performance, resilience, observability, and disaster-recovery capabilities.
  • Mentor developers and provide technical leadership across delivery teams.
  • Support release planning, testing, deployment, and post-production monitoring.
  • Collaborate with risk, compliance, information security, and audit teams.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, API specifications, data models, and operational procedures.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A relevant master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional software development experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing or supporting digital wallet, mobile money, agency banking, payment, or fintech platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex software projects and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Proven experience delivering business-critical systems in banking, financial services, telecommunications, or fintech environments.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in one or more enterprise programming languages, such as Java, Kotlin, C#, Go, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Strong knowledge of microservices, event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and API-first development.
  • Experience developing REST, SOAP, and asynchronous messaging integrations.
  • Strong understanding of transaction processing, ledger systems, double-entry accounting concepts, and financial reconciliation.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis.
  • Experience with messaging and streaming technologies, such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with cloud or hybrid infrastructure, preferably AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, source control, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with system monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting tools.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding, encryption, key management, API security, and identity and access management.
  • Knowledge of payment standards and technologies such as ISO 8583, ISO 20022, USSD, QR payments, and payment switches.
