Job Description

The finance coordinator, under the supervision of Executive Director of ASKUS, will be a crucial member of the finance team and will coordinate financial resources of ASKUS, responsible for the overall controlling of ASKUS finance, budget planning, reporting and supports the finance staff, and also the management team by offering insights and financial advice that will allow them to make the best financial decisions for the organization

Duties and responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the activities related to the annual budget and monthly forecasting process.
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff, Donor and Government stakeholders while recommending further courses of action and communicating significant variances on a timely basis, including coordinating adjustments when needed
  • Advise on financial activities and provide strategies that the organization should take
  • provide financial training and guidance to program staff and partners
  • Participate in ongoing analysis, forecasting and review of project expenses
  • Check and control the financial sustainability of the organization.
  • Analyze the budgets & actual performance compared to the organization plan.
  • Develop good trends and forecasts for the organization finances.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
  • Manage and intensively participate in preparation of the organization’s budget.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of organization finances is maintained.
  • Match with various other departments/programs, discussing organization financial plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.
  • Track the transfer of funds and manage accounting and finance records, including developing tracking, and monitoring all financial project activities, and maintaining current project expense data.
  • Ensuring compliance with all donor and home office procedures.
  • Draft quarterly and annual financial reports on the financial status of project expenses and budget information and submit to approval.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Follow, facilitate and coordinate HR and organizational administrative issues

About You

  • Minimum Eight years of experience as a Financial Manager preferably in the NGO sector
  • Master’s degree in financial management, accounting business Administration
  • Proficient user of finance software
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
  • Working knowledge of all legal legislation and regulations
  • Professional qualifications will be considered a plus
  • Able to work under stress and deliver results timely
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively interact with different levels of the organizational bodies.
  • Able to manage multiple projects with varying but stringent deadlines.
