Electrician Technician

The Electrician Technician is responsible for managing electrical and electronic, data and automation systems. He/she is able to maintain the correct functioning of hospital systems at all times, including general and extraordinary maintenance as well as construction of new systems to improve the quality of the building.

The Electrician Technician task and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following points:

• Reading technical diagrams and drawings both electrical and mechanical (P&ID, Single line diagrams, Blok diagrams, Layouts) and operating and maintenance manuals of systems or devices.
• Creating, installing, repairing and maintaining electrical, control and data systems (including: low voltage power system and board, diesel generators, photovoltaic power system, lighting, sockets), guided by appropriate drawings, documentation, tools and testing devices.
• Ensuring that the appropriate electrical material is selected for each task (including cables, protection equipment and several electrical items).
• Installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing electrical industrial or domestic machinery and control devices like fridges, ovens, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, pumps, fans, inverters.
• Performing ordinary and extraordinary electrical maintenance to prevent or to troubleshoot water system, air conditioning, medical gasses, LPG, firefighting, wastewaters system.
• Checking the operating parameters, performing inspections of any electrical system or equipment, performing tests for any operational problems, and writing report documenting the checks, any problem encountered, and summary of actions taken or suggested.
• Collaborating with the Supervisor, the other technicians (or contractors) and any other relevant department on field for an efficient maintenance and operation at the Rehabilitation Center, without interrupting the ordinary activities.
• Following health and safety standards, and wearing appropriate safety equipment.
• Understanding high risks tasks and following directions given by the Supervisor to make sure the procedures for such tasks are clear at all times.
• Cooperating with the Line Manager for the organization and prioritization of the tasks for the technical team.
• Under supervision of the Line Manager, supporting with people management tasks when requested.
• Sharing knowledge, ensuring development of junior resources and supporting with the organization and management of training programmes.
• Under supervision of the Line Manager, ensuring a smooth functioning of the store, monitoring purchasing needs for locally and internationally bought materials.
• Ensuring that the working environments are clean and tidy at all times and that the tools are always well functioning and ready-to-use.
• Performing any other duties as required.

• Willingness to perform heavy work, including moving and lifting loads.
• Availability to work in shifts (including nights, weekends and public holidays when requested).
• Effective communication skills and ability to manage relations with different stakeholders.
• Willingness to work overtime (remunerated) according to the business needs.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in a similar role.
• Basic/good computer skills and knowledge of MS Office.
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English, Amaric and Tigrinya.
• Good organizational skills, reliability and attention to detail.
