Communication and Publication Officer at Ethiopian Solar Energy Development Association (ESEDA)

Ethiopian Solar Energy Development Association (ESEDA) is looking for a Communication and Publication Officer to join our team. You will be responsible for creating, managing, and distributing various publication and communication materials, such as news articles, press releases, website content, reports, publications, and marketing materials. You will also manage our website and social media channels, develop and implement communication strategies and campaigns, and build and maintain media relations. You will report to the management and work closely with other staff members and partners.

Employment Condition: Fixed Responsibilities

• Strategic Communications: Work closely with management to create and implement effective communication strategies aligned with audience needs and organizational goals. Conduct industry research, analyze competitors, and assess audience trends. Plan and execute communication initiatives, campaigns, and events while monitoring their effectiveness and making necessary improvements.
• Content Development & Management: Craft, edit, and refine various communication materials, including news articles, press releases, reports, speeches, presentations, website content, and management. Design and produce visually appealing publications and promotional resources. Ensure timely content delivery.
• Digital & Social Media Communication: Oversee website and social media channels, keeping them updated and engaging. Develop and execute social media strategies to connect with target audiences. Build and manage online communities, monitor reputation, respond to inquiries, and stay informed about emerging digital communication trends.
• Media Relations: Establish and maintain strong relationships with media outlets. Pitch compelling stories and secure media coverage. Address media inquiries and prepare well- structured press releases.
• Event Engagement: Organize and participate in events that advocate for solar energy in Ethiopia. Prepare presentations and materials to effectively convey ESEDA’s mission and objectives at these gatherings.
• Additional Responsibilities: Maintain the members database, provide IT support, and assist in event planning and execution.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or engineering related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in communication, publication, or media relations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Amharic.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and WordPress.
• Familiar with social media platforms and tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linkedin.
• Creative, proactive, and detail-oriented.
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Passionate about the solar energy sector.
