Job Description

1. Background

Development for All (DFA) is an independent civil society organization established in 2016 and licensed under Ethiopian law (Registration No. 3610). DFA works to advance the rights and participation of marginalized communities and promote inclusive and sustainable development.

As part of its ongoing youth empowerment and advocacy work, DFA seeks to engage a qualified and experienced trainer to deliver a two-day refresher training for 40 youth in Assosa, Benishangul-Gumuz Region. The training will strengthen participants’ practical knowledge and skills in advocacy, leadership, and social inclusion, enabling them to more effectively engage in community awareness and youth-led advocacy initiatives.

2. Purpose of the Assignment

The trainer will be expected to:

  • Deliver a practical and participatory two-day training for 40 youth.
  • Strengthen participants’ knowledge and skills in advocacy, leadership, and social inclusion.
  • Refresh and build on participants’ existing knowledge and experience.
  • Equip youth with practical tools for community engagement, advocacy, and inclusive leadership.
  • Facilitate practical exercises, discussions, and group activities relevant to the local context.

3. Key Training Areas

The training should cover, at minimum:

  • Advocacy concepts, approaches, and practical tools.
  • Youth leadership and effective communication (Non- violent Communication).
  • Stakeholder engagement and community mobilization.
  • Social inclusion and meaningful participation
  • Developing and delivering effective advocacy messages.
  • Practical advocacy planning and action.

4. Expected Deliverables

The selected trainer will provide:

  • A brief training methodology/session plan.
  • Two days of participatory training for 40 youth.
  • Practical exercises and group activities.
  • Training materials
  • A brief training report highlighting key outcomes and recommendations.

5. Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

  • Relevant academic and/or professional qualifications in social sciences, development studies, law , advocacy and social inclusion related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training on similar area.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Experience working with youth is highly desirable.
  • Good understanding of the Benishangul-Gumuz context is an advantage.
