The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ASU provides access to quality education to high-achieving African students who have ambitions that exceed their financial resources. Phase I provided access to undergraduate degrees to 120 African students. The Phase II Strengthening Institutional Linkages partnered with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and Ashesi University where students completed their first three years of undergraduate degrees at the two partner institutions and an accelerated Masters degree at ASU in the fields of engineering and business. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, in partnership with Arizona State University, is offering 30 graduate study opportunities for young African professionals to pursue a master’s degree focused on technology and innovation.
Scholarships are available for the following full-time, on-campus graduate programs:
- MS Global Technology and Development
- MS Information Technology
- MS User Experience
- MS Computer Science
- MS Data Science Analytics & Engineering
- MS Robotics and Autonomous Systems
- MS Clean Energy Systems
- MS Civil, Environmental & Sustainable Engineering
- MS Modern Energy Production and Sustainable Use
- MS Human Systems Engineering – Intelligent Systems

How to apply
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be a citizen of an African country committed to ethical leadership and demonstrated engagement in their community.
- Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 33 on or before the application deadline.
- Applicants must have earned an undergraduate degree conferred by July 2026.
- No prior graduate degrees
