Overview

UNFPA Global Internship Roster (2026) offers students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a leading United Nations agency.

Key Responsibilities & Impact

As an intern, you will support UNFPA’s Strategic Plan for 2026–2029 to help achieve four core outcomes:
  • Ending the unmet need for family planning.
  • Ending preventable maternal deaths.
  • Ending gender-based violence and harmful practices.
  • Advancing demographic change through evidence- and rights-based policies.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the UNFPA internship program, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Education:
    • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree (e.g., Bachelor’s) and completed at least one full academic year; OR
    • Enrolled in a postgraduate program (Master’s or higher); OR
    • Graduated with a university degree within the last 12 months; OR
    • Enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee program requiring an internship.
  • Languages: Proficiency in written and spoken English or French, and fluency in the official language of the local UNFPA office (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish).
  • Skills & Values: Interest in international development, strategic thinking, teamwork, adaptability, and cultural awareness.
  • Family Limitation: Direct relatives (parent, sibling, child) of current UNFPA staff members are ineligible.

Stipend & Financial Support

Eligible interns who do not receive financial support from an external sponsor (such as a university or government) will receive a monthly stipend to help cover living expenses. Stipend amounts vary based on the agreed work location and local living costs.
