Terms of Reference (TOR) Engaging Commission Agents / Experts for Local Fundraising Activities

Job Description

Background

SOS Children’s Villages in Ethiopia (SOS CVE) is a non-political, non-religious development and humanitarian organization that has positively impacted the lives of thousands of children and families for the past 50 years. Aligned with its vision of ensuring every child grows up with love, respect, and security, SOS CVE seeks to expand its income base through effective partnerships with corporations, individuals, and institutions in Ethiopia.

To this end, SOS CVE is seeking the services of experienced and dynamic commission agents or experts to assist in donor and stakeholder mapping, strategy development, and fundraising efforts to support its mission and objectives.

Objectives

The main objectives of this consultancy are:

  1. Conducting a comprehensive national donor and stakeholders mapping and analysis.
  2. Developing an actionable fundraising plan aligned with SOS CVE’s strategic goals.
  3. Establishing and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, corporations, and individuals to secure funding.
  4. Facilitating stakeholder meetings and engagements for SOS CVE representatives.
  5. Generating income from the public, corporations, institutions, and other stakeholders.

Scope of Work

The commission agent or expert will be expected to:

  1. Identify and cultivate relationships with potential individual, corporate, and institutional donors.
  2. Arrange and attend meetings with identified stakeholders, providing a clear presentation of SOS CVE’s goals and funding needs.
  3. Solicit funds and secure donations for SOS CVE through effective fundraising activities(such as charity galas, online fundraising campaigns, or corporate sponsorship drivers, etc).
  4. Utilize digital platforms, social media, and traditional channels to maximize outreach.
  5. Provide regular updates to SOS CVE on progress, challenges, and achievements.

Deliverables

  1. Reports on meetings conducted with stakeholders and outcomes achieved.
  2. Regular progress reports on fundraising activities
  3. Evidence of funds raised, and partnerships forged during the contract period.
  4. A final report summarizing the expert’s activities and recommendations

Duration of assignment

The assignment will cover an initial period of one year, with the potential for extension based on performance and mutual agreement.

Terms and Conditions including compensation

  1. The commission agent or expert will be responsible for covering their operational costs and expenses.
  2. Payment will be based on a percentage of income (rate to be agreed on the contract to be signed) generated through the expert’s efforts, as agreed upon in the final contract.
  3. All activities and engagements must comply with SOS CVE’s child protection, safeguarding, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Proven track record in fundraising, donor engagement and strategy development with a focus on local fundraising initiatives.
  • Strong networks and relationships within Ethiopia’s corporate, high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic sectors.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • A passion for SOSCVE’s Mission.
