Job Description
Background
SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia, in collaboration with the German Foundation for World Population (DSW) and the Population Health Environment Ethiopia Consortium (PHE), is implementing a European Union-funded peacebuilding initiative titled “Practice Peace and Live in Tranquility.” This transformative project promotes sustainable peace and social cohesion in border communities across the Oromia (Doba, Mieso, Gumbi Bordode), Somali (Gota Bike, Afdem, Mulu), and Afar (Haruka, Amibara) regions.
As part of this initiative, a high-level interregional and national advocacy workshop will be held on November 13, 2025, in Bishoftu/Adama, Ethiopia. The workshop will convene approximately 48 senior stakeholders from federal, regional, zonal, and woreda-level government institutions, civil society organizations, and national and international NGOs. The goal is to foster structured dialogue, strengthen collaboration, and advance policy advocacy for peacebuilding across regional boundaries.
Purpose of the Consultancy
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced consultant to provide technical support and strategic leadership in the planning and facilitation of this pivotal event. The consultant will be responsible for:
- Designing a contextually relevant workshop framework and content
- Providing technical input on agenda development and materials
- Facilitating workshop sessions using participatory and inclusive methods
- Promoting dialogue and advocacy among senior government officials
- Supporting post-event analysis and recommendations

Scope of Work
Workshop Design and Planning
- Develop a detailed agenda and session flow tailored to senior-level participants
- Align content with project objectives and EU peacebuilding priorities
- Coordinate with project partners for thematic coherence and logistics
Technical Support and Advisory Role
- Provide strategic guidance on peacebuilding and advocacy messaging
- Advise on stakeholder engagement approaches to foster inclusive dialogue
- Support the development of briefing materials, talking points, and background documents
Facilitation and Leadership
- Lead the facilitation of the workshop, ensuring active participation and meaningful dialogue
- Moderate panel discussions, breakout sessions, and plenary exchanges
- Ensure the workshop remains focused, inclusive, and results-oriented
Documentation and Reporting
- Capture key insights, recommendations, and action points from the workshop
- Prepare a concise post-event report summarizing outcomes and next steps
- Provide recommendations for future advocacy and policy engagement efforts
Coordination and Communication
- Liaise with project staff, government representatives, and other stakeholders before, during, and after the event
- Ensure timely communication and alignment across all parties involved

Reporting and Supervision
- The consultant will report directly to the SOS Children’s Villages National lead project coordinator and work in close collaboration with technical teams from DSW and PHE Ethiopia Consortium.
About You
Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications
- Advanced degrees in peacebuilding, governance, public policy, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in facilitating high-level policy dialogues and advocacy workshops
- Proven ability to engage senior government officials and lead strategic discussions
- Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s interregional dynamics and institutional structures
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
