Supply of Improved Stove production
Bid Advertisement for the Supply of Improved Stove production
Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Organization: Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS)
Deadline: January 23, 2026
Job Description
Technical Specifications and Material Ratios for Improved Stove Construction
1. Stove Dimensions and Design Specifications
The stove shall be constructed according to the following dimensional and structural requirements to ensure durability, efficient combustion, and effective heat transfer.
1.1 Fuel Inlet Specifications
- Fuel inlet base width: 24 cm
- Fuel inlet central height: 11 cm
These dimensions are designed to allow sufficient fuel entry while maintaining controlled airflow for efficient combustion.
1.2 Wall Specifications
- Outer wall height: 24 cm
- Inner wall height: 22 cm
- Wall thickness: 6 cm
- Wall diameter: 62 cm
The wall thickness of 6 cm provides adequate insulation and structural strength, while the height difference between the inner and outer walls supports optimal heat retention.
1.3 Smoke Outlet Specifications
- Smoke outlet width: 19 cm
- Smoke outlet height: 7 cm
The smoke outlet dimensions are intended to facilitate effective exhaust of combustion gases while minimizing backflow and smoke leakage.
1.4 Pot Rest Specifications
- Pot rest hole diameter: 13 cm
- Pot rest height: 14 cm
These dimensions ensure stable placement of cooking pots and efficient heat concentration on the pot base.
2. Materials and Mixing Ratios
The stove shall be constructed using locally available materials mixed with cement according to the specified ratios to ensure strength, thermal insulation, and longevity.
2.1 Approved Aggregate Materials
Any one of the following materials may be used as the primary aggregate:
- River sand
- Red ash / scoria
- Pumice
2.2 Mixing Ratios (Aggregate to Cement)
| Material Type | Mixing Ratio (Aggregate : Cement) |
| River sand | 3 : 1 |
| Red ash / Scoria | 4 : 1 |
| Pumice | 5 : 1 |
The selected ratio shall be strictly adhered to in order to achieve the desired balance between strength and thermal insulation.
3. Material Preparation Requirements
- All raw sand, red ash, scoria, or pumice must be sieved using a 3 mm diameter mesh wire prior to mixing.
- Sieving is mandatory to remove oversized particles and impurities, ensuring uniform material composition and improved bonding with cement.
- Clean water shall be added gradually during mixing to achieve a workable but non-watery consistency.
4. General Construction Notes
- Proper curing should be carried out after construction to prevent cracking and ensure long-term durability.
- The stove should be allowed to dry completely before initial use.
- All dimensions are measured in centimeters (cm) unless otherwise stated.
Requirements for Bidders
- Valid business license for the supply of agricultural equipment or related goods.
- Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) and VAT registration.
- Proven track record in providing similar equipment or agricultural supplies.
- Time management
