Job Description

Role Summary

The Senior Nurse at Pharo Diagnostic and Clinical Services (PDCS) provides high-quality, patient-centred nursing care for individuals with internal medicine conditions. The role involves coordinating patient care, mentoring junior staff, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, and contributing to improved patient outcomes. In addition, the Senior Nurse assists with reception and billing tasks, supporting smooth clinic operations. This role combines clinical leadership, administrative responsibilities, and operational support within the Internal Medicine Department.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical Care & Patient Management

  • Conduct patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, injections, and wound care in line with established protocols.
  • Manage chronic and acute medical conditions (e.g., hypertension, diabetes, COPD, and heart failure).
  • Coordinate diagnostic tests (laboratory and imaging) and follow up on results in collaboration with physicians.
  • Provide patient education on disease management, medication adherence, and lifestyle modification.

2. Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior nurses and nursing assistants.
  • Promote adherence to clinical policies, infection prevention, and safety protocols.
  • Support continuous learning and professional development of the nursing team.

3. Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement

  • Participate in developing, reviewing, and updating clinical protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and analyze quality indicators such as patient satisfaction, waiting times, and treatment outcomes.
  • Promote a culture of safety through incident reporting, root-cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.

4. Coordination & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, pharmacists, laboratory and radiology staff, and other allied health professionals.
  • Coordinate patient referrals and follow-up appointments to ensure continuity of care.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary team discussions and case reviews.

5. Administration

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including patient charts, treatment records, and medication logs.
  • Support clinic scheduling, staffing, and resource planning.
  • Monitor and manage nursing and medical supply inventories, ensuring proper equipment maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements.

6. Reception & Billing Support

  • Assist at the reception desk when needed, including patient check-in and appointment scheduling.
  • Verify patient information, update records, and manage registration processes.
  • Support billing and payment processes, including issuing invoices, processing payments, and reconciling accounts.
  • Communicate with patients regarding billing inquiries and provide clear guidance on payment procedures.

7. Patient Experience & Communication

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patient inquiries and complaints, ensuring prompt and respectful resolution.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and deliver culturally sensitive care.

Provide health education materials and ensure appropriate patient follow-up.

About You

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (or equivalent); master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid professional nursing license/registration.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a hospital or internal medicine setting.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role is preferred.
  • Experience with patient reception and billing tasks is an added advantage.
  • In-depth knowledge of internal medicine conditions, diagnostic procedures, and treatment protocols.
