VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 which currently amended to 626/2009 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in five of the Regional States of the country.

VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Senior Attorney role for Main Branch at Central East Regional Operation Office. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

Major Responsibilities

• Develop plans with attorneys of the MFI on the efficient recovery of loans.
• Follow up and consolidate court process
• Facilitate capacity building for attorneys
• Based on the loan document of debtors which are forwarded to the area legal team, give 30days final written notice to the debtor and transmit the case to the foreclosure coordination committee to get decision to sell the collateral/s of the debtor.
• Attend court hearings regarding credit and noncredit cases on behalf of the respective branch and argue motions
• Strategize, prepare for, and attend trial proceedings and negotiations
• Draft legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, notices, and discovery requests and responses
• Provide guidance and advice to the respective branches
• Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws
• Submit appeals on the cases which need so, follow up on them until they get verdict of appropriate courts.
• Ensures the safe custody of all legal documents on collaterals;
• Ensures that all legal cases involving the institution’s clients are handled appropriately;
• Compile and consolidate written-of date in assist to ensure taking to court action and recovery at branch level.
• handle all issues related to collateral;
• Assists in registering and discharging mortgaged items;
• Looks into and analyzes law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles and codes to prepare legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts for review, etc.
• Investigates facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.
• Prepares data for pleading; conducts investigation with the police on theft.
• Prepares affidavits of documents and maintain documents file.
• Represents the institution before all levels of courts of law including police stations and other public authorities.
• Keeps custody of all books of law, proclamations, legal notices and other relevant documents used in the Legal services.
• Provides support to the branch attorneys in pursuing court cases against defaulters;
• Assists the administrator in ensuring that the branch staffs issue the necessary notice to delinquent clients, and coordinates with branch staff on the proper and timely delivery of these notices;
• Submits a written report to the coordinator;
• Maintains adequate records of reports submitted and monitors whether actions to rectify the reported findings acknowledged are undertaken promptly;
• Proposes improvements or enhancements and additions to legal services;
• Other tasks that may be assigned by the administrator from time to time

• LLB Degree/Diploma in Law.
• 2 years’ experience for Degree and 3 years for Diploma in related positions
• Communication & computer skill is advantageous.
• knowledge of civil & commercial codes & analytical skill
