Orbis International-Ethiopia is a legally registered Country Office of this organization, carrying out the same mission in Ethiopia.

Orbis International-Ethiopia is seeking to recruit a Quality Assurance Officer for its Operation Sight II Project C that will be implemented in Central Ethiopia Region and Sidama National Regional State as seen below.

The main functions consist of, but not limited to the following:

JOB SUMMARY:

 The Quality Assurance Officer reporting to the Program Lead for CIFF Project, closely supports IECWs in assessing surgical outcomes, leads and coordinates TT surgical audits, and ensures all new and refresher IECW trainings follow WHO and ICTC guidelines.

LOCATION: The position is primarily based in Hawassa. There sill be travel to various Orbis Project areas.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Quality Assurance Officer reports to the Program Lead for CIFF Project. The Quality Assurance officer works collaboratively with the Project Manager under Operation Sight program, Field Coordinators and IECWS

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY List the most important responsibilities first.

• Support Field Coordinators and Project Managers in assessing and documenting TT surgical outcomes on day 1, days 7–14, and 3–6 months post-operation.
• Lead TT surgical audits in project areas, submit timely findings reports, and coordinate TT surgery data verification.
• Ensure IECW trainings comply with WHO and ICTC guidelines, and coordinate TT surgery supportive supervision for IECWs.
• Support Field Coordinators to improve TT surgery outputs through outreaches and mobile teams as needed.
• Help identify IECWs needing further training based on surgery quality and Identify strong IECWs with the project team and train them as supportive supervisors and outreach coordinators.
• Train and mentor partner staff, including IECWs, on TT surgery recording and reporting and Work with MERL Associate Director and project teams to maintain quality assurance standards.
• Submit monthly, quarterly, and annual TT SA, SS, and DQA reports against targets.
• Participate in regional and zonal quality assurance meetings and manage field activity petty cash as appropriate related to Quality Assurance activities.
• Mentor TT surgeons on using smartphones and scanners for biometry data collection.
• Perform other TT surgery tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Duty Station: Hawassa

Salary: Based on organizational scale

Employment Duration: The project will run until December 31, 2027 with possibility of extension depending on availability of budget

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• MPH with five years’ experience or BSc in Public Health with seven years’ experience.
• Strong TT surgery and quality assurance experience; ophthalmic nurse training preferred.
• Experience in blindness prevention, trachoma is an advantage.

• Good written and spoken English skills.
• Basic IT skills, especially in word processing and spreadsheets.
• Strong verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to conduct supervision.
• Ability to lead a team in a Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) environment.
