Program Development Manager | Addis Ababa

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Programs Development Manager (PDM) will be responsible for the effective development, design, organization, and monitoring of programs to support Samaritans Purse strategic direction in Ethiopia. He/she will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and report directly to the Samaritans Purse Ethiopia Deputy Country Director Programs and Strategy. The PDM will supervise the Programs Information & Communication Officer, International Interns and Apprentices assigned in the department.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop programming through writing concept papers, proposals, and budgets using best practices and lessons learned in coordination with appropriate program units.
  • Build relationships on behalf of Samaritans Purse with bilateral donors, International Non-Governmental Organizations, Ethiopian government ministries, and other agencies.
  • Assist as needed in program implementation, including: developing assessments, baselines, budgets, monitoring and evaluation systems, conducting field visits to verify data, reporting, and program close out.
  • Build capacity of field staff in general program development skills, behavior change communication, and quantitative and qualitative monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Represent Samaritans Purse in relevant UN cluster meetings, government coordination platforms, and donor/partner meetings.
  • Strengthen team capacity through training and improved working methods.
  • Conduct all activities in the most cost effective and efficient manner, in coordination with team members, other departments, and in line with Samaritans Purse, Ethiopian government, and donor policies and best practices.
  • With a generous and serving spirit, perform all other tasks and responsibilities assigned for the benefit of Samaritans Purse.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE NEEDED

  • Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Masters degree in a related field is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar role within the NGO sector, preferably in Ethiopia or the Horn of Africa.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with experience supervising others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Commitment to empathy, integrity, responsibility, transparency, and efficiency.

 

LANGUAGE

  • Proficiency in English and Amharic
  • Knowledge of the regional language required
  • Knowledge of any other national language is a plus

 

SKILLS REQUIRED
