Job Description
Background
The American International Health Alliance (AIHA) is an international nonprofit organization advancing global health through locally driven, locally owned, and locally sustainable health systems strengthening (HSS) and human resources for health (HRH) initiatives.
The Debre Berhan Comprehensive Specialized Hospital (DBCSH), a government hospital in North Shewa, Ethiopia, is committed to providing equitable, quality healthcare across four major service areas: Emergency & Critical Care, Outpatient Services, Inpatient Services, and Delivery Services.
DBCSH had a long-standing partnership with Elmhurst Hospital Centre (EHC) in New York, USA, through AIHA’s Twinning Program. This collaboration was instrumental in strengthening DBCSH’s capacity and continues to serve as a foundation for current efforts.
Objective of the Assignment
The overall objective of this communication project is to document and showcase the successes of the AIHA–DBCSH Twinning Partnership. The documentary will highlight the impact of the Twinning Partnership on DBCSH’s current capacity and illustrate how the EHC’s contributions are improving service delivery and community health outcomes.
Scope of Work
The selected production company will provide high-quality photography and video materials that captures the impact of AIHA’s contributions to DBCSH for visibility, communication, and advocacy purposes.
Pre-Production
- Participate in a briefing meeting with AIHA and DBCSH teams.
- Review project background documents (reports, briefs, etc.).
- Draft a detailed shooting list and workplan.
- Coordinate with AIHA on developing scripts/interview guides.
Production (Photo & Video)
- Manage photo/video consent forms (signed by all testimonials).
- Conduct interviews with project partners, stakeholders, and beneficiaries (approx. 5 minutes per interview).
- Capture relevant sites and activities within DBCSH.
- Document the CPD Centre inauguration at DBCSH (photos and video).
Post-Production
- Edit and finalize all photos and videos.
- Produce a short documentary with subtitles in English and Amharic.
- Ensure professional-quality sound, narration, and graphics where applicable.
Deliverables
- The consultant/firm will provide:
- High-resolution photographs (JPG format) covering all relevant activities and events.
- A short documentary film of 8–10 minutes that tells the story of the Twinning Partnership, and its impact on the hospital and community.
- A 2–3-minute video optimized for social media sharing.
- All raw footage and unedited photos/videos
- A hard copy of all signed consent forms.
- Full user rights/license of all materials granted to AIHA.
Duration & Timeline
- The assignment is expected to take place within one week, starting from the signing of the contract. A detailed timeline will be finalized during the inception meeting.
Reporting & Coordination
- The production company will work closely with AIHA’s team and DBCSH representatives. All outputs will be reviewed and approved by AIHA.
About You
Required Expertise
- The production company/consultant should demonstrate:
- Proven experience in professional video production and photography.
- Prior work in documenting health or development programs (preferred).
- Capacity to provide Amharic/English subtitles and voiceovers.
- Ability to manage consent and confidentiality requirements.
