We started our humanitarian work in Ethiopia with the opening of our first Village in Mekelle, Northern part of Ethiopia in 1974. Since then, we have expanded our programs to different regions where there are significant needs for intervention and where we believe we can work in partnership with all relevant actors to bring sustainable positive outcomes for children’s and young people. 

Today, we have grown significantly to meet the persistent challenges that confront Ethiopian children who have lost parental care and those that are at risk of losing their parental care. Organizational Profile:

SOS Children’s Villages is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit international development organization headquartered in Innsbruck, Austria. The organization provides humanitarian and developmental assistance to children in need and protects their interests and rights around the world.

SOS Children’s Villages Ethiopia (SOS-CVE) is a member of the SOS children’s village international federation and is legally registered in Ethiopia as an international organization operating nationwide at seven program locations. SOS Ethiopia is an active member of the international umbrella organization of SOS-Kinderdorf International, based in Innsbruck. SOS CVE has been active in Ethiopia since 1974 and since then has supported approximately 500,000 vulnerable children, youth, and families, including in the sectors of alternative care, community-based family strengthening programs, youth empowerment and education.

The “SUSTAINABLE TRAINING FOR EMPLOYMENT PROMOTION (STEP)” project is a project being implemented in Addis Ababa and Adama with the financial & technical support of the SOS Children’s Village Worldwide (SOS CVWW) and the German Federal Ministry for economic cooperation and development (BMZ) with the focus on creating skilled employment and/or self-opportunities to socio-economically vulnerable youth in Addis Ababa and Adama cities.

The project is designed to directly benefit 4,500 (60% female) disadvantaged young people at the age between15-34. To consider, the special challenges women face in the education and labor market, the majority 60% of women are integrated into the project. The project is aimed at young people from households affected by poverty.

As part of the project’s Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) framework, a PDM assessment will be conducted to ensure the quality, effectiveness and accountability of item distribution for target youth participants in the target area. The assessment will generate evidence to inform project implementation, measure quality of item and satisfaction of toolkit receivers, and support learning throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Join Our Mission:

We are looking for Post Distribution Monitoring Data Enumerator who will be responsible for collecting high-quality project participants and institution-level data using digital data collection tools in assigned woreda within sub city in Adama town. Enumerators are expected to participate fully in training sessions, adhere to data collection protocols, maintain professional conduct, and ensure that all collected data meet quality standards.

The position requires individuals who are committed to ethical research practices, accuracy, confidentiality, and respectful engagement with community members.

Key Responsibilities

Data Collection Responsibilities

• Conduct project participants, community & institution-level interviews using digital data collection platforms (Kobo Toolbox).
• Administer questionnaires accurately and consistently according to the survey protocol and training provided.
• Complete assigned interviews and submit data within the agreed daily targets and timelines.
• Verify responses during interviews to minimize errors, omissions, and inconsistencies.
• Ensure all mandatory questions are completed before finalizing submissions.
• Upload completed & reviewed questionnaires to the server daily or as instructed by supervisors.
• Report technical challenges, security concerns, or field issues immediately to supervisors.
• Revisit respondents when required to validate or complete missing information.
• Maintain high standards of data quality, completeness, accuracy, and reliability.

• Obtain informed consent from all respondents before conducting interviews.
• Respect the dignity, privacy, culture, and rights of all participants.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of all information collected.
• Adhere to safeguarding, protection, and ethical research principles throughout the assignment.

Essential Requirements (Must-Have):

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree or MSc in one of the following fields: Statistics, Economics, Sociology, Geography, Agricultural Economics Rural Development, Development Studies, Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields.

Experience:

• Previous experience in PDM, baseline, endline, survey, assessment, census, or research data collection.
• Experience using digital data collection tools such as KoboToolbox, ODK Collect, Survey CTO, CommCare, or similar platforms.
• Experience working with NGOs, development projects, or humanitarian programs is an advantage.

Desired Assets (Nice-to-Have): 

Language Requirements:

• Good command of English.
• Fluency in Amharic is preferable.
• Knowledge of other local languages spoken in the project areas is an added advantage.

Others:

• Currently living in the project areas and not hired (available all the data collection period.

Project: STEP Project

Duty Stations: Addis Ababa City in different Sub city

Contract Duration: 5-7 Days including training and fieldwork and continued till April 2027 when PDM data collections were needed in the Project.
