The Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is an international nonprofit organization providing trauma healing services to survivors of war and human rights violations. Headquartered in Minnesota, USA, with offices in Africa and the Middle East, CVT works locally and globally to deliver trauma rehabilitation, build the capacity of service providers and human rights defenders, and advocate for the prevention and end of gross human rights abuses. CVT has been operating in Ethiopia since 2013.
Summary: CVT is seeking physiotherapists to provide high-quality physiotherapy services at CVT’s Shire, Endabaguna, Sheraro, or Mai-Tsebri Healing Centers, as well as in Community Resource Centers under the Area-Based Approach in collaboration with other consortium members in the ECHO-funded project. The role supports individuals, groups, and communities in recovering from physical challenges resulting from torture and war trauma. Working under the daily supervision of clinicians as part of an interdisciplinary team, physiotherapists will aim to: improve functional ability and reduce pain; support the management of conditions such as incontinence, stress, poor sleep, and chronic pain; and enhance social participation, coping, body awareness, and self-regulation.
