Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Peace Building Technical Coordinator – WVE has been implementing integrated programs in different parts of the country using a diversified funding stream aimed at reaching out the most vulnerable children, families and communities in the operational areas. Peacebuilding is one of the Technical Programs implemented in both stable and fragile contexts. This Technical Program is implemented in close collaboration and partnership with government sectors, community-based organizations, faith-based organization and other local actors.

The position holder is in charge of coordinating the Peacebuilding sector interventions in the respective FCOs, coordinating and implementing peacebuilding initiatives aligning with Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus (HDP) framework in the target Area Programs (APs) as well as grant projects within and outside the operational areas. He/she is responsible for mainstreaming of Peacebuilding activities into other sectors and promoting social cohesion and conflict sensitivity within the respective program Hubs.

The incumbent work closely with national office, local partners and stakeholders to ensure peacebuilding programs are contextually relevant. Regularly attend regional meetings and coordination platforms related to peacebuilding representing WVE, summarize periodic reports from the APs and grants projects within the respective FCOs and send to the HO’s Peacebuilding team.

Key Responsibilities

Sector Strategy, Technical Guidance & Thought Leadership

Actively participate in AP and FCO annual plan and budget preparation process, bi-annual and annual management report and periodic monitoring and assessment
Provide technical support to peacebuilding and HDP Nexus integration during APs and FCO activity planning, implementation, and monitoring and reporting.
Provide technical guidance to ensure peacebuilding programs are evidence-based, contextually relevant, inclusive, and aligned with cross-cutting themes (nexus approach, gender-lens, conflict sensitivity, safeguarding, do no harm, faith & development).
Closely work with the respective FCO and APs’ Technical staffs to integrate peacebuilding activities and HDP Nexus approach across all sectors.

Resource mobilizing

Work closely with NO Peacebuilding team to provide initial inputs, assessments for concept note and proposal development to mobilize grant funding for peacebuilding initiatives.
Contribute peacebuilding technical input for communications, in coordination with RAM and Marketing teams.

Capacity Building & Field Support

Support local partner capacity development through training, experience sharing, and provision of materials.
Support in developing peacebuilding training manuals
Support in facilitating capacity building training to partners and staffs

Program Quality Assurance & Support

Support implementation of Peacebuilding Projects in the respective FCOs through regular monitoring.
Participate in developing peacebuilding and triple nexus programming guideline.

Engagement with Government & Sector Networks

Support in building and maintaining relationships with local Zonal and Regional Government, CSOs and other peace actors collaboration with FCO, RAM and NO peacebuilding team
Participate in networking and coordination meeting with relevant stakeholders to advocate for peacebuilding policies, social cohesion and HDP integration.

Monitoring Evaluation & Learning (MEAL)

Collaborate with MEAL teams to support to conduct periodic monitoring visit at APs.
Document and share lessons learned, innovations, and significant change stories to support organizational learning

Required Education, training, license, registration, and/or Certification

University degree in peace, development, social work, sociology, psychology or other relevant fields

Required Professional Experience

At least three years relevant work experience for masters and five for first degree in peacebuilding, and
Knowledge and experience on humanitarian response programming is an asset.
Knowledge and ability to implement integrated community-based peacebuilding programming, including conflict sensitivity, social cohesion and HDP Nexus approaches
Experience working with children, youth, women and faith leaders.
Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving

Required Language(s)

Effective in written and verbal communication in English and the local language.

Required travel and/or work environment accommodations

Based in FCO locations and willing to travel to APs
Willingness to travel internationally as required.
Field conditions may include challenging terrains, limited infrastructure, and security-sensitive areas or fragile areas
Extended hours may be required during mission critical activities implementation

Knowledge of and ability to integrate peacebuilding with different sectors and align HDP Nexus with different sectors
Knowledge of and ability working in fragile and stable contexts

Participate in peacebuilding and related projects (design and implementation
