Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer – Yayu Project

Job Purpose

The M&E Officer will oversee all monitoring and evaluation activities of the Yayu Project and provide technical support in designing and implementing a robust M&E framework. This framework will enable accurate tracking and analysis of project performance, impact, and lessons learned. The officer will coordinate with implementing partners and external M&E service providers throughout the project cycle, including evaluations, learning events, and reporting.

Duty Station

• HRNS-Ethiopia office, Mettu, with travel to project sites in Hurumu, Yayu, and Alge Sachi Woredas as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update the project M&E framework, database, and quality assurance systems.
• Consolidate data collected by local partners and produce timely, high-quality M&E reports.
• Track progress against project indicators, monitor long-term trends, and ensure accuracy of reporting.
• Review and validate reports from partners and consultants to ensure completeness and quality standards.
• Document lessons learned, best practices, and challenges, and facilitate discussion with implementing partners.
• Provide feedback to local implementing partners on indicator status and support joint analysis and adaptive management measures.
• Keep the Project Manager and relevant stakeholders informed about project performance and raise alerts on potential risks to achieving objectives.

Training and Coaching

• Provide technical support and capacity-building to project implementers on M&E procedures and data quality assurance.
• Assist partners in interpreting M&E findings relative to project goals and objectives, and support discussion of adaptation strategies.
• Participate in M&E Working Group meetings and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Management, Statistics, Economics, Monitoring & Evaluation, Demography, Population Studies, or a related natural science field.
• Proven experience in data management, survey design, and database handling.
• Competence in mobile data collection, cloud-based systems, and digital information management platforms.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in monitoring and evaluation; experience in the nonprofit or development sector is an advantage.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and reporting skills.
• Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work independently and in a team.
