Job Description

DISTINCT FUTURE OF CVDA

CVDA has been re-registered and licensed by the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice, Charities and Societies Agency, on November 30, 2009 as an Ethiopian Residents charity in accordance with the Charities and Societies proclamation No. 621/2009 with registration No. 0588. As per 1113/2019 proclamation also re-registered on July 30, 2019.

CVDA has permission to work at the national level however so far operates marginal parts of Benshangule Gumuz Region, Sidama region, South Ethiopia Region, Central Ethiopia region, South west Ethiopia region, Oromiya region, Afar region and Addis Ababa City administration.

It is member of Consortium of Reproductive Health Association (CORHA), Union of Ethiopian Women Charitable Association (UEWCA), Ethiopian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative/EEITI/, Ethiopia Civil Society Coalition for Scaling up Nutrition/ECSC-SUN/ and Afar Region Health Partner Forum.

Vision

CVDA envisions a poverty-free Ethiopia where equity and equality are ensured.

Mission:

CVDA’s mission is to enhance socioeconomic development in health, education, agriculture, environment, livelihood, and WaSH, humanitarian responses, community-based peace-building, and good governance through holistic approaches and working with the community to contribute towards sustainable development and an improved standard of living in Ethiopia.

Overall goal:

CVDA’s goal is to contribute to poverty alleviation through community-based approaches by implementing programs for development, good governance, and humanitarian responses in different regions of the country.

Description of the Vacancy

Common Vision for Development Association (CVDA) is on the process of starting project focuses livelihood

Called HOME-GROWN SCHOOL FEEDING & CLIMATE-RESILIENT LIVELIHOODS PROJECT

Which implemented in Bena Tsemay, Malle and Dasenech Woredas, South Ethiopia. So we want to hire project staff for this project mentioned below

Duty station Woreda level – one officer in each of Bena Tsemay, Malle and Dasenech
Reporting line Reports to: Regional Coordinator through the relevant technical line management.
Supervision Provides day-to-day technical guidance to field facilitators and coordinates with development agents and lead farmers.
Job purpose Lead field-level implementation of climate-smart agriculture, Farmer/Pastoralist Field Schools, input support, poultry, post-harvest management and related livelihood activities.
Minimum qualifications & experience MSc or BSc in Agricultural Sciences, Agronomy, Animal Science, Agri business, Rural Development or related field; 2-4 years of relevant field experience preferred, including farmer-led extension, watershed/livelihood programming and facilitation of farmer/pastoral field schools in southern Ethiopia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement woreda-level activity plans aligned with project targets and seasonal calendars.
  • Establish and support 10 Farmer/Pastoralist Field Schools in the assigned woreda.
  • Coordinate seasonal training and practical demonstrations on climate-smart agriculture, crop management, pest control and sustainable land management.
  • Support transparent distribution and use of climate-resilient seeds, fruit seedlings, tools and poultry inputs.
  • Provide on-farm coaching and technical support throughout the production season.
  • Coordinate poultry management training and follow-up for targeted households.
  • Lead post-harvest management training, demonstrations and adoption monitoring.
  • Support establishment/equipment of aggregation stores, cooling systems and quality-control practices.
  • Coordinate with development agents, lead farmers, cooperatives, schools and woreda offices.
  • Collect and submit accurate field records and contribute to monthly monitoring and reporting.
  • Ensure gender, protection, PSEA, safeguarding and accountability standards are applied during field activities.

Key Deliverables / Performance Areas

Woreda workplans; functional FFS; training/coaching records; input distribution support; post-harvest and infrastructure follow-up; field reports; stakeholder coordination records.

Safeguarding and Compliance

Staff must report concerns through established mechanisms.
