Background

Light for the World is an international non-governmental organization with a long presence in Ethiopia. It has been working in Ethiopia since about 2004 (or even earlier through partners) and officially opened a country office around 2010 to better coordinate its initiatives. Its work is multi-dimensional: It do eye healthinclusive educationeconomic empowermentrights for people with disabilities, and humanitarian action.

We Can Work Program

This is one of Light for the World’s flagship more recent initiatives, especially in partnership with Mastercard Foundation. Light for the World Ethiopia, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation and ADF, is implementing the We Can Work Program (2023–2030). Its goal is to enable young women and men with disabilities to access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030.

It is part of the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy, which aims to enable 30 million young people (broadly) to find dignified work. We Can Work Program integrates into that broader framework in several African countries.

As part of its learning and visibility strategy, the program will produce short learning video films and photo shoot collections to highlight key pillars of the initiative.

Objective

The primary objective of this assignment is to produce a high-quality learning Video focused on We Can Work Program. The video learning stories should effectively communicate key information about the program and be produced to a professional standard suitable for Learning, advocacy, awareness, and stakeholder engagement.

Specific Objective of the Assignment

 

To produce:

6 short learning video stories of program participants for pillars outcome (each approximately 7 minutes)

52 high quality pictures (above 300 Mega pixel)

These outputs will showcase success stories, advocacy efforts, and inclusive practices across the program’s pillars: Skill Development C Employability, Entrepreneurship C Technical Skilling, Disability Mainstreaming, and Advocacy C Systems Change.

Target audience of the learning videos

Donors and Funding Partners: Existing and potential donors will gain insight into the impact of their contributions.

social media: To advocate about the Person with disabilities voice

Public: To raise awareness about the empowering Person with disabilities by featuring personal stories of youths positively impacted by the program.

Media: Media institutions can help us extend the message, reach more communities, and amplify our advocacy efforts.

Addis Ababa Pillar 3: Advocacy G Systems Change

 

Video of stakeholders, including hiring organizations, highlighting their experiences, commitments, and best practices in promoting inclusive employment for person Youth-led advocacy campaigns and events

 

  • Policy dialogue sessions facilitated by youth
  • Training programs on advocacy, communication, and leadership
  • Video stories and testimonials of youth advocates

Methodology

  • The selected production firm is expected to assign a qualified team to produce a high-quality Learning videos and Photo in close collaboration with Light for the World.

Activities:

  • Provide a summary of the documentary’s plot, themes, and narrative structure
  • Develop a detailed running order
  • Carry out video shooting and post-production editing
  • Submit draft versions for review and feedback
  • Incorporate comments and finalize the production
  • Deliver the final version by the agreed deadline

Scope of Service

The firm is expected to produce 6 learning video stories duration each 7 minute (a total of a 42 – minute) and 52 high resolution pictures. Interview subjects (Participants, partners, and experts) and the core content areas will be coordinated and facilitated by Light for the World team.

Timeline and Expected Outcomes

Deliverables:

  • A high-quality 6 video stories (a total length of 42-minute)
  • Compliance with agreed standards and production quality
  • Produced in Amharic with English subtitles

About You

Key evaluation criterion for the technical proposal, though not limited to, are:

  • Understanding of the ToR or client needs
  • testimony from your Experiences and skill mixes of the team or the firm
  • Attach sample work and recommendations
  • skills of the production team
  • Clear implementation plan and realistic timelines

All interested firms must submit the following documents:

Technical proposal

  • Provide a summary of the documentary’s plot, themes, and narrative structure
  • A detailed work plan, including a timeline, key milestones, and deliverables.
  • Include the list of experts with academic background, qualifications, and sample work.

Financial proposal

  • The financial proposal must detail all cost items, including VAT
  • All travel, accommodation, and related costs will be covered by the production firm.
  • Bidders should submit the financial proposal only in ETB.
  • Valid and renewed business license
  • Proven experience in documentary, video, and TV production
  • Demonstrated ability to produce audiovisual content related to social behavior change, advocacy, or development
  • Experience working with CSOs, INGOs, or similar sectors (preferred)
  • Strong portfolio of past high-quality audiovisual productions

Selection Criteria

Qualified production firms are invited to submit technical and financial proposals. The weight to be given for technical and financial proposals will be determined by the evaluation team.

Light for the World reserves the right to accept or reject the bid either partially or fully.
