Job Description

Orbis International is a nonprofit humanitarian organization that works in developing countries to save sight worldwide. Orbis prevents and treats blindness through hands-on training, public health education, improved access to quality eye care, and partnerships with local health care organizations in an effort to eliminate avoidable blindness. Orbis International-Ethiopia is a legally registered Country Office of this organization, carrying out the same mission in Ethiopia.

Orbis International-Ethiopia is seeking to recruit a Junior Finance and Admin Officer for its project entitled “Trachomatous Trichiasis Backlog Clearance towards Trachoma Elimination” that will be implemented in South West Ethiopia regions as seen below.

The main functions consist of, but not limited to the following:

JOB SUMMARY

Under direct supervision of End Fund- Project Manager, the Junior Finance and Admin Officer is responsible for ensuring the use of efficient financial system as per the standard operating procedures of Orbis in general field office in particular. In addition to this, the candidate will be overseeing the overall office management of the field office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Project manager, the Junior Finance and Admin Officer will have the following specific duties and responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, donor regulations, and local laws.
  • Process payments, maintain financial records to MIP, and manage budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor program expenditures against available funds and work plans, and prepare advance settlements and follow-up the timely settlement.
  • Oversee petty cash, check registers, and voucher pads and submit government reports in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Ensure proper financial documentation and timely handover to the MO.

Administrative Oversight and Asset management

  • Provide admin support like maintaining organized files, ensure timely payments for office utilities and rent, handle office supplies, equipment, coordinate logistics activities, supervise support staff including cleaners and security personnel, oversee inventory and custodianship of fixed assets and property tags.
  • Report on stock and asset inventory quarterly and biannually.
  • Ensure proper documentation for donated items.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Finance and Compliance Manger, Project Coordinator and Operations Director.
  • Well versed in IRFS and IPSAS

Duty Station: Bonga

Salary: Based on organizational scale

Employment Duration: One year with possibility of extension depending on availability of budget

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • BA degree in accounting or management
  • Minimum three years’ experience

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Advanced Excel
  • Accounting software
  • Well versed in IRFS and IPSAS
Required Skills

  • Microsoft Office Pack: Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint
