The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus/Development and Social Services EECMY/DASSC is seeking a highly motivated and competent individual to take up the position of the SELF-HELP GROUP (SHG) NATIONAL CO-ORDINATOR (NC) to work in a program financed by the German donor Kindernothilfe e.V.
Kindernothilfe e.V. (KNH), which means ‘help for children in need’, is a German non-governmental child-aid organisation which supports more than 2 million children and young people with more than 300 partners in 39 countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. The Self-Help Group Approach (SHGA) has been implemented in different countries in three continents such as Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Self-Help Group Approach empowers the most vulnerable women and children within a community to attain adequate sustainable economic and social living conditions as well as political participation by unleashing and developing their individual potentials in groups and networks.
In Ethiopia KNH has been working for more than 50 years supporting local non-profit organizations to implement development and humanitarian projects. Currently KNH is in the process of establishing a National Coordination Office (NCO) for SHGA in Ethiopia in collaboration with Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus/ Development and Social Services Commission (EECMY DASSC).
The SHGA Programme is planned to be implemented by local NGOs and coordinated by a National Coordination Office (NCO) in collaboration with EECMY DASSC. The NCO will be managed by the Self-Help Group National Coordinator (NC) and his/her Self-Help Group Assistant Coordinator (AC). The NC is expected to promote and strengthen the SHGA Programme and will therefore be the focal person for the SHG Approach. The NC is responsible for coordination of the overall SHGA at the national level and is charged with the duty of building the capacity of the promoting organizations, documenting and forwarding the learning to the involved stakeholders and scaling-up the SHGA in the country.

Contract: 12 months (with the possibility of renewal EECMY).

The project coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, management and reporting of all project activities under the BEN Ethiopia program with in CMCC designated implementation area. The position holder serves as the primary liaison between EECMY-DASSC-CMCC and Cheshire Ethiopia (CE) and ensures that the project is implemented on time, within a budget, and in accordance with the approved plan, CE’s guidelines, and donor requirements.
Project planning and implementation
• Lead the development and review of the annual work plan, implementation schedule, and activity plans in consultation with the project team and CE.
• Ensure timely and quality implementation of all project activities across the five CBR domains: Health and Rehabilitation, Inclusive Education, Inclusive Livelihoods, Social Inclusion and Empowerment, and CBR coordination.
• Coordinate day-to- day project operations, including supervision of the Social Worker, CBR Supervisor, and CBR Workers.
• Ensure that all project activities are implemented within approved budget lines and seek CE’s written approval for any reallocation exceeding 10% of a budget line.
• Maintain an Up To Date activity tracker and flag implementations risks to the EECMY-DASSC Program manager (Edu. Child Youth Development Program)
Working Conditions
• Based at the project’s main office in the designated implementation area
• Regular field travel to communities, and beneficiary households within the implementation area.
• The position requires occasional participation in meetings and events in Addis Abeba or other locations as directed by the partner (Cheshire Ethiopia)

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Public Health, Development studies, Disability studies, Project Management, or a closely related field.
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project coordination or management within an NGO or development organization.
• Demonstrated experience working with persons with disabilities, children, or vulnerable populations
• Experience in financial management and budget monitoring
• Prior experience working with Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) program is a strong advantage.
Skills and Competencies
• Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in local language and English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, outlook).
• Ability to produce clear and accurate narrative and financial reports

The Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus Development and Social Services Commission (EECMY-DASSC) is a faith-based organization operating in Ethiopia since 2000. Headquarter in Addis Ababa, it has over 40 branch offices across Ethiopia and manages health institutions, Hospital and Clincs western Ethiopia. EECMY-DASSC has extensive experience in large-scale health programs, particularly in Oromia, Amhara, Southwest Ethiopia, and Gambella regions. It manages more than 17 health projects, reaching over 1 million people with services like immunization, primary health care, maternal and child health, nutrition and HIV/AIDS prevention. EECMY-DASSC works with over 40 international donors with a strong focus on MEAL, participatory planning, and strong accountability mechanisms to ensure high-quality implementation.
The CGPP Field Officer is responsible for project planning, implementation, and performance oversight of all CGPP project activities within respective Woreda. S/he provides integrated technical assistance across all projects thematic areas—including Maternal, Newborn, Child Health (MNCH) and Nutrition, and Health Security to Woreda Health Offices, Health Centers and Health Posts (PHCUs). S/he is responsible for supervising the field officers (project team), ensuring that all program activities and resources are managed effectively, transparently, and aligned with USG funding requirements, Core Group Ethiopia secretariate and the project’s strategic objectives for CGPP.
Under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator, Field officer is responsible for the day-to-day management of activities implemented in the operational Woredas. The position holder also ensures high‑quality implementation of immunization, disease surveillance, and community mobilization interventions.
