IT and Data Manager at Ethiopian Coffee Association (ECA)

The Ethiopian Coffee Association (ECA) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT & Data Manager to oversee its IT infrastructure and database management, while also supporting a geo-location farmer-level data collection project.

This role will involve ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, providing technical support, maintaining data security, and developing digital tools to assist farmers and stakeholders in Ethiopia’s coffee industry. The IT & Data Manager will also be responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing databases to support this initiative. The ideal candidate will have a combination of IT management experience and database administration skills to ensure both the association’s digital transformation and effective data management

Key Responsibilities:

• IT Infrastructure & Security: Oversee servers, networks, security protocols, and data storage to ensure system reliability, protection, and efficient
• Database Management & Optimization: Develop, maintain, and optimize databases for secure and efficient data storage, retrieval, and back
• Process Automation & System Efficiency: Implement automation to streamline operations, enhance workflow, and improve system performan
• Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues for staff and key stakeholders.
• IT Policies & Compliance: Develop and enforce cybersecurity measures, access controls, database standards, and disaster recovery plans.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
• At least 3 years of experience in an IT-related role, preferably with some experience in a non-profit or agriculture setting
• Fluency in Amharic and English.

Technical Skills:

• Good understanding of basic computer systems, software, and network management.
• Strong problem-solving skills to fix IT issues quick
• Good communication skills to explain IT concepts to staff who may not have technical knowledge.
• Database Management & Optimization: Proficient in SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, with strong skills in performance tuning and troubleshooting.
• Data Security & Backup: Experienced in encryption, authentication, and backup strategies to ensure data protection
• Technical Expertise: Skilled in networking, cloud computing, and system automation, with knowledge of GIS as a plus
