Position Summary

The Instructional Design Coordinator (IDC) supports the end-to-end design, adaptation, and quality assurance of learning solutions within Village Enterprise’s Technical Assistance (TA) portfolio. This role ensures that all tools, curricula, and learning experiences used to deliver our evidence-based Graduation Approach are contextually grounded, human-centered, and scalable across government and partner systems. IDC supports the translation of complex program methodologies into practical, engaging, and visually consistent learning materials that strengthen capacity among local partners, government staff, and implementing teams.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

Product design and Curriculum development: 

  • Design, develop, adapt, and continuously improve learning materials and experiences across the TA portfolio, ensuring alignment with Village Enterprise’s Graduation Approach, evidence base, and quality standards.
  • Develop curricula that ensure clear, consistent, and high-quality content across all learning assets.
  • Create engaging learning experiences and apply effective learning methodologies that reinforce knowledge retention and behavior change.
  • Establish and maintain templates, design systems, and brand guidelines for TA learning products.

Project Coordination and Stakeholder Management:

  • Coordinate the co-design, development, and adaptation of learning products and curricula.
  • Manage project timelines, priorities, and deliverables to ensure the timely completion of learning products.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication among technical teams and key stakeholders throughout the product development process.

Digital Learning and innovation:

  • Develop and implement engaging digital, blended, and technology-enabled learning solutions.
  • Apply appropriate instructional design methodologies and learning technologies to enhance learner engagement and accessibility.
  • Stay abreast of trends and emerging practices in instructional design, adult learning, and digital learning technologies, recommending relevant approaches and tools to strengthen learning outcomes.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure instructional quality through regular reviews, evaluations, and quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor learning effectiveness and use evidence, feedback, and evaluation findings to drive continuous improvement.
  • Maintain curriculum repositories and learning resources to ensure consistency, accessibility, and version control.
  • Ensure quality assurance for all creative outputs in alignment with Village Enterprise’s brand identity, tone, and visual storytelling standards.

Capacity Building and Facilitation Support:

  • Strengthen the capacity of facilitators, partners, and internal teams through coaching, training-of-trainers, and ongoing support.
  • Promote best practices in adult learning, facilitation, and instructional design across Village Enterprise programs.
  • Support Village Enterprise TA teams and partners to strengthen facilitation skills and adult learning methodologies.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement by sharing knowledge, tools, and best practices across teams.

Safeguarding

  • Continuously sensitize partner teams and program participants on safeguarding principles.
  • Ensure all TA partners comply with VE’s safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promptly report and follow up on any safeguarding incidents in collaboration with partner management.

Key Indicators of Success

High-Quality Learning Products Delivered:

  • Learning curricula, tools, and resources are developed, adapted, and delivered within agreed timelines, meet established instructional design and quality standards, and align with Village Enterprise’s Graduation Approach and evidence-based practices.
  • Learning products are user-centered, relevant, accessible, and effectively support intended learning and performance outcomes.

Capacity Strengthening and Tailored Support:

  • Facilitators and partners demonstrate improved instructional delivery, while learning resources remain current, accessible, standardized, and compliant with safeguarding and organizational quality standards.
  • Increased use of adult learning and instructional design best practices.
  • Consistently high learner and stakeholder satisfaction ratings (e.g., ≥85%).

Effective Project Coordination and Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Product development projects are completed within agreed timelines through effective coordination and strong stakeholder engagement.
  • Stakeholders express high satisfaction with the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the learning products or solutions developed to support partnership priorities (e.g., gender, climate resilience, and early childhood development).

Quality Assurance and Evaluation:

  • Learning products achieve high learner satisfaction, incorporate evaluation findings, and are continuously improved based on evidence and feedback.
  • Up-to-date and well-maintained curriculum repositories.

Digital Learning and Innovation

  • Increased adoption of digital and blended learning solutions.
  • Enhanced learner engagement and accessibility.
  • Integration of innovative learning tools and methodologies.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualifications or significant proven expertise with a minimum degree from a recognized university in Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Organizational Learning, Educational Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in Curriculum development, creating blended learning solutions for both instructor-led, low-literacy audiences and self-paced training programs. Candidates with an LXD and instructional design is an added advantage.
  • Ability to lead co-creations through creative, program and product design methodologies to come up with programs and products that yield impact.
  • Experience in assessing training needs, writing lessons objectives, and storyboarding course outlines/learning journeys and visual materials design.
  • Ability to work creatively and accurately under pressure with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and self-organize and prioritize work when managing multiple timelines and schedules.
  • Experience using multimedia and online web instructional materials, especially web-based Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or H5P authoring tools.
  • E-learning authoring tools: Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, etc.
  • Video creation and editing (would be an added advantage)
  • Excellent leadership, team-building, and self-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
