Job Description

TITLE: Woreda Health, Nutrition Team Lead for BHA project

LOCATION: Guardhamole  woredas

CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 months

TEAM/PROGRAMME: BHA

GRADE: 4A

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people  either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) orintensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The position holder shall be in charge of technical quality implementation and delivery of the health and Nutrition services in the assigned woreda. S/He will mainly be responsible for the daily implementation of the screening, OTP, outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, safe motherhood and child health as per the guideline of Oromia ORH. In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide supervision, technical assistance and capacity building to health extension workers and Health workers in health facilities. She/He will be responsible for the oversees  daily implementation of the health and Nutrition services package as per the standard, supporting health facilities technically and on supply distribution, support on HFs documentation. This position also responsible for leading the project team at woreda level.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: (Health Nutrition Coordinator)

Role Dimensions: Closely work with Woreda Health offices, PHCU, HPs, and community members, and others relevant.

SPECIFIC ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Conduct regular supportive supervision to ensure quality PHCU service delivery per national protocols at targeted HFs
  • Support Woreda Health office and PHCU during any campaign and any out-reach services
  • Coordinate health and nutrition response team in assigned woreda with excellent liaise with primary health care unit directorate.
  • Ensure all project materials are supplied to PHCU and in place whenever during service provision.
  • Responsible for establishing and leading an effective health and nutrition team in assigned woreda.
  • Responsible for multi-sectoral initial rapid assessment data collection and analysis when needed.
  • Responsible to represent and advocate key project deliverables and outcome brought by the organization in assigned woreda.
  • Responsible to ensure the quality of Maternal and child health  at Health facilities as per guidelines
  • Responsible for preparing project detail implementation plan and procurement plan.
  • Prepare terms of reference (TOR), organize and facilitate training, review meeting and draw best lessons/practice.
  • Ensure key accountability issues addressed during the implementation of project deliverables.
  • Improving basic preventive health care at community level with emphasis health, immunization, and health and nutrition services.
  • Support in Conducting & undertaking PHC on MCH, consultation & provide proper treatment based on the protocol.
  • Strengthening of linkages and coordination mechanisms between community and the woreda health bureaus.
  • Plan and implement project outlined in the protocol for OTP and SC to achieve objectives of the project.
  • Will help facilitate admission of the patient at the OTP, and SC.
  • Ensure each admitted child receives adequate and quality clinical and nutritional care through existing resources.
  • Ensure at all times adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary nutritional and clinical requirements – Plumpy’nut, Vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc.
  • Assisting the planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community.
  • Capacitate Health Extension workers’ competency in delivering compressive primary health care service at the health post.
  • Leading project team to use the organization’s properties like vehicles effectively and efficiently.
  • Managing the project staff to work effectively eight hours on working days.
  • Organize team for planning of project activities and delivery as per guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform other extra duties as required
  • Report any problems on time to the program manager
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Quality Assurance

  • Facilitate pre condition for conducting PDM after distribution
  • Document experiences and challenges encountered in the process of project implementation: capacity building, provision of technical support and demand creation
  • Conduct regular supportive and joint supportive supervisions to HFs with respective government partners
  • Plan and facilitate regularly scheduled reviews of projects with woreda health office heads/experts and HWs/HEWs, in the implementation areas
  • Facilitates visits for donors, members and others as necessary
  • Conduct any related task assigned by supervisor Prepare, review and submit weekly, monthly, quarterly, reports and updates of the project on a timely manner with acceptable quality to the H&N Coordinator
  • Support and coordinate during the planning and implementation of project related assessments
  • Document, organize, and share the proceedings and reports of all trainings/ capacity building workshops and project related meetings with the HN Coordinator
  • Any other tasks given by line manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSC in Nursing or Public Health or above.
  •  Minimum Three years working experience out of which two years’ experience directly related to emergency health & nutrition related fields
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS Essential

  • Knowledge, training and experience in IMAM/TSFP  and community mobilization/BCC
  • Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.
  • Strong computer (Microsoft skills), all and interpersonal skills.
