Position title- Finance Manager
Reporting Line – Executive Director
Role summary
Lead Mary Joy Ethiopia’s finance function to ensure accurate accounting, robust internal controls, donor compliant reporting and timely financial management to support program delivery and organizational growth.
Key responsibilities
- Manage full cycle accounting: general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll and month end/year end close.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports for leadership and donors.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts and cash‑flow projections; provide financial advice to management.
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax, labor and regulatory requirements and donor grant conditions.
- Oversee grant accounting and donor financial reporting across multiple funding streams.
- Implement and strengthen internal controls, finance policies and standard operating procedures; lead internal audits and support external audits.
- Manage treasury, banking relationships and cash management to ensure timely payments.
- Lead finance team capacity building, performance management and recruitment.
- Support procurement and fixed‑asset management ensuring value for money and accurate registers.
- Represent the organization in finance matters with banks, auditors, regulators and donors.
About You
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field; professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) preferred.
- Minimum 5 years progressive finance experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial role; NGO sector experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax and regulatory environment and donor financial regulations.
- Proven experience with financial systems (Peachtree, QuickBooks, Pastel, SAP, Odoo or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience leading audits and preparing donor‑compliant financial reports.
- Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail and leadership ability.
- Fluency in English; Amharic preferred.
