Job Description

Location: Pharo School Assosa, Assosa, Ethiopia

Job Purpose

To deliver engaging and effective English language instruction to primary school students, fostering their academic growth, creativity, and confidence. The teacher will play a key role in shaping young minds and contributing to the school’s mission of excellence and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

Core Teaching Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cover grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing skills
  • Develop age-appropriate learning materials and activities that support curriculum goals
  • Teach foundational language skills using interactive methods such as storytelling, role-play, and games
  • Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and informal evaluations
  • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their language abilities
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students

Classroom & Student Management

  • Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and respect
  • Maintain discipline and positive behavior through consistent routines and expectations
  • Track attendance and academic records accurately and confidentially
  • Identify students with special learning needs and collaborate on individualized support plans

Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and concerns
  • Work closely with fellow teachers and school staff to support cross-curricular learning
  • Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development activities
  • Contribute to a positive school culture by modeling professionalism and enthusiasm

About You

Qualifications & Experience

We are seeking an inspiring educator who meets the following criteria:

  • MSc/MA/BA/BSc in English or a relevant subject
  • OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Education with English subject specialization
  • PGDT (Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching) – mandatory
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience in primary education
  • Experience in high-performing international or private schools is highly desirable
  • Strong command of English (spoken and written)
  • Proven ability to engage young learners through creative and interactive teaching methods
  • Familiarity with modern pedagogical approaches and digital learning tools
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organizational skills
