DRIVER/DRIVER MECHANIC -Coaster Bus

The Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is committed to promoting the rights and opportunities of persons with disabilities through policy advocacy and the mainstreaming of disability inclusion in service delivery, development programs, and humanitarian actions, in partnership with other organizations. Re-registered in 2019 under the new Civil Societies Proclamation № 1113/2019, ECDD is dedicated to fostering an inclusive Ethiopia where persons with disabilities exercise their human rights and have access to mainstream services and opportunities on an equal basis with others.

Currently, ECDD is seeking a competent and qualified Driver/Mechanic who drives Coaster bus.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

The Driver/Mechanic reports to the ECDD Assistant HR, Admin & Logistic Manager and drives and ensures the proper maintenance of the ECDD vehicle(s).

Specifically, the driver will:

1. Drive vehicle(s) of capacity allowable for a grade III driving license holder.
2. Ensure the proper handling of the vehicle(s).
3. Assist passengers to enter and exit the vehicle(s) and ensure that passengers are properly secured in their seats.
4. Ensure that the vehicle(s) is regularly cleaned, oiled and greased.
5. Perform maintenance work, which does not require a high knowledge of auto mechanics, such as cleaning and changing tires.
6. Ensure the proper periodic up-keep of the vehicle(s).
7. Alert the Admin/Finance Manager when periodic maintenance is required and when vehicle tires need to be replaced.
8. Complete and submit to the Admin/Finance Manager every two weeks the vehicle mileage report.
9. Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Ass. HR, Admin & Logistics Manager

Required Qualifications, experiences, and competencies

• Education – 10th or 12th Grade complete
• Professional experience – Minimum of three -year experience in NGO
• Having driving license allowable for a grade III
• Previous professional experience working with persons with disabilities desirable
• Excellent interpersonal relationships and teamwork
• Excellent communication skills

Skills

1. Good understanding of donor and local regulations and compliance management.
2. Two years and above experience specially working with persons with disabilities and their organizations desirable.
3. Excellent interpersonal relationships and teamwork.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Able and willing to travel frequently to project target areas.
6. Competence in the use of computer applications.
7. Communication in English, Amharic and/or Ethiopian Sign Language is required, and knowledge of other Ethiopian languages also desirable.
