Job Description

An exciting vacant position has arisen at East Africa Bottling Share Company – Ethiopia for the role of Country Lead :Sustainability . East Africa Bottling Share Company ( EABSC) works with the world’s most cherished trademark; invests in the most sophisticated production system in the world and employ people who are prepared to work with passion and focus. The position is structured to report to the PACS Director.

Key purpose statement.

To shape and drive a bold sustainability agenda that delivers competitive advantage by forging high-impact partnerships, deepening customer engagement, and embedding sustainability at the heart of commercial strategy. This role will lead cross-functional collaboration to turn strategy into action, proactively navigate sustainability risks, and deliver clear, data-driven insights that demonstrate impact, strengthen resilience, and create long-term value for the business and its stakeholders.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sustainability Partnerships as a Competitive Advantage: Develop and maintain sustainability partnerships that enhance CCBA’s market position and brand reputation, driving market differentiation through impactful collaborations.
  • Enhanced Customer Engagement in Sustainability: Create innovative platforms to educate customers on CCBA’s sustainability agenda, improving their knowledge and engagement, and elevate sustainability as a key factor in customer relations and negotiations.
  • Sustainability Risk Management: Proactively address sustainability risks by identifying potential challenges early and implementing appropriate solutions to strengthen business resilience through effective risk mitigation.
  • Cross-functional Implementation of Sustainability Strategy: Ensure all sustainability projects are executed in line with group targets, using regular performance reviews and gap analysis to maintain progress, while keeping projects on track with strategic business priorities
  • Sustainability Reporting & Transparency: Provide clear, accurate sustainability reporting to internal and external stakeholders ensuring consistent, data-driven insights for decision-making.

Skills, Experience & Education

Education

  • Degree in Environmental Studies, Chemistry, Engineering or Science (Environmental, Physical, or Biological) or requisite work experience

Experience

  • 6-8 years’ experience in a manufacturing or production environment with at least 6 years focused on working in one or more of the focus areas in the Environmental and Sustainability domains.

Skills

  • An understanding of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and global sustainability developments, with the ability to apply insights to enhance the company’s sustainability approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex sustainability concepts clearly and persuasively to both internal and external audiences.
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks, environmental standards, and best practices in areas such as carbon footprint reduction, waste management, water conservation, and recycling.
  • An understanding of the external international and local socio/economic/political environment.
  • Excellent networker and influencer.
  • Proficiency in identifying, analyzing, and solving sustainability-related challenges, using creativity and innovation to mitigate risks and create business value.
  • Business and financial acumen.
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, media, and sustainability partners, to promote sustainability goals.
