Core Banking System (CBS) Administrator

VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an Institution established according to Proclamation No. 40/96 which currently amended to 626/2009 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in five of the Regional States of the country. VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for Core Banking System (CBS) Administrator. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements:

Major Responsibilities:

• • Administer and maintain the Core Banking System (CBS) to ensure high availability and optimal performance
    • Monitor system health, performance, and uptime
    • Manage system configurations, parameters, and environment settings
    • Troubleshoot and resolve CBS-related incidents and service requests
    • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring or critical issues
    • Maintain issue logs and ensure proper documentation of resolutions
    • Act as the primary point of contact between VisionFund and Craft Silicon Technical team related to CBS
    • Log, track, and follow up on vendor tickets and escalations
    • Coordinate system fixes, enhancements, and upgrades with vendors
    • Ensure SLA adherence and timely resolution of issues
    • Plan, test, and deploy CBS patches, upgrades, and hotfixes
    • Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing) with business teams
    • Ensure proper version control and rollback procedures
    • Ensure all changes follow formal change management and approval processes.
    • Develop and maintain CBS reports based on business requirements & BI reports
    • Manage and monitor: End-of-Day (EOD) processes, Start-of-Day (SOD) operations, End-of-Month (EOM) and periodic closures
    • Ensure timely and error-free processing of batch jobs
    • Investigate and resolve processing failure & Manage CBS user access controls and permissions
    • Ensure compliance with internal security policies and audit requirements
    • Conduct periodic user access reviews and clean-ups
    • Maintain audit trails for system changes, access, and critical operations
    • Support internal and external audits by providing required system information and evidence

EDUCATION/TRAINING

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, or related field

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in Core Banking System administration
• Experience in banking sector is highly preferred
• Technical trainings and proven experience on Microsoft SQL, MySQL , Oracle databases
• Hands-on experience with CBS platforms preferred

TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS

• Experience in Core banking implementation and strong knowledge of CBS architecture and operations
• SQL/database query skills for reporting and troubleshooting
• Experience with API integrations and Business Intelligence (BI) tools (like PowerBI or SSRS)
• Experience in incident management and ticketing systems
• Able to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
• Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies & highly self-motivated and directed.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
• Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes is an advantage

   

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT

• Willingness to work extended hours during EOD/EOM or critical system issues
• Availability for on-call support
