Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965. Since its establishment, COOPI has been undertaking activities to help and empower the poor and needy people in different countries. COOPI Ethiopia started its operation in 1995 and has been primarily implementing emergency, relief and early recovery programs in water, hygiene and sanitation, food security and livelihood, nutrition and protection sectors.
COOPI is currently implementing 10 projects in Ethiopia focusing on WASH and Livelihood managing 8 field bases and a staff of over 100 employees.
COOPI is looking for qualified and competent Community Mobilizer for its project implementation in the area of North Wester Zone of Tigray Shire, Endabaguna and Tahetay Adeyabo areas, Ethiopia.
Position: Community Mobilizer

- Duty Station: Project implementation area – North Wester Zone of Tigray Shire, Endabaguna and Tahetay Adeyabo areas, Ethiopia
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning
- Support in the preparation of the agreement with the regions
- Provide any support required by the PM in drafting the M&E plan for the project according to Log Frames
- Support the preparation of ToR for activities implementation (background, methodology, objectives, results, activities, BoQ, Monitoring and post monitoring table linked to result framework including cash, distribution of feed) and send it to sector head/APM/PM
- When requested by the PM, prepare a detailed physical and financial monthly plan according to the format provided by the PM and submit it to PM 10 days before the end of the month.
- Support to prepare weekly activity planning, movement plan with the sector head/APM/PM.
- Contribute to weekly meetings.
- Compile weekly report and submit it to the sector head/APM/PM.
Implementation
- Report any managerial issues in the activities implementation to the Sector head, PM, APM.
- Report any technical issues to PM, APM or advisors as required.
- Actively facilitate and ensure implementation of the activities. Implement the provision of technical support on your field of expertise by taking an active role; in close coordination with the project PM, and sectoral expert, and contribute to improving the livelihood conditions of the population according to quarterly and monthly plans and work orders assigned.
- Complete the technical sheet and deliver to the sector heads/APM/PM each week.
- Work with local counterparts in identifying and selecting beneficiaries to undertake the project activities,
- Guarantee community engagement, mobilization, registration and verification of beneficiaries.
- Assist communities and woreda line departments on how to mainstream gender and bring women into the decision-making power throughout beneficiary selection and targeting process
- Create awareness of local authorities on WASH and DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) activities.
- Be responsible for preparation and start distribution of NFI and input for the DRR activities.
- Implementation of baseline, midterm monitoring, post-monitoring surveys, end-line surveys and all data collection required for activities implementation, reporting on results and objectives as required by the PM and ToR (with Kobo when possible). Specifically, perform KAP and base line surveys with the beneficiary population.
- Facilitate CFM in the project activities and in the implementation areas.
- Fill in the format for the description of the beneficiaries.
- Give translation service when required.
- Anticipate challenges in project implementation, identify solutions and work with the team in problem solving.
- To make proper use and take care of COOPI properties under your control.
- Stay on the project implementation site and in order to spend as much time as possible with the beneficiaries to increase quality of the implementation and understanding of the context
C) Reporting
- Actively participating in the weekly meeting called by the sector head, PM and APM
- Inform the sector head and the project manager on a daily basis of the activities.
- Give the weekly report to the sector head and PM.
- Draft/inform the sector head, PM and APM on activities accomplishment including implementation data as requested (Monthly, interim, final, ad hoc, etc.). Participate in grant closing meetings for every closed grant if required by the PM.
- A file including Sanitation and hygiene and livelihood activities/Sectors (impact of cash and animal feed distribution, beneficiary documentation and socioeconomic information) must be compiled, updated and shared to sector heads, every time the PM required.
- Participate in project impact research/assessment, monitoring and evaluation with the project teams/cluster members and give accurate recommendations to be used as a lesson for further actions; document and share lessons learned and success stories for future programming.
D) External Coordination
- Attend coordination meetings at Kebele and Woredas level as requested by the sector head, PM and share key points (no decision level is granted in stakeholders coordination meetings).
- Support the organization of internal and donors’ visits to the project sites liaising with the sector head/APM/PM. Support approval of agreements with the regions and required MoU with local authorities.
- Actively participate in relevant technical working group, consortium and cluster coordination meetings with members, NGOs and Gov.t at levels requested by the PM and share key points (no decision level is granted in stakeholders coordination meetings).Regularly collect information at stakeholder level (Woredas, Kebele and communities) baseline need assessment, gaps on food security, socioeconomic, needs, etc. in accordance with the necessities. Propose activities and project ideas and share them with the PM and advisory group.
