Are you a creative storyteller passionate about climate action, disaster resilience, and humanitarian impact?
We are seeking a dynamic Communications and Social Media Officer (50%) to join the Risk-informed Early Action Partnership (REAP) Secretariat. In this vital part-time role, you will be the driving force behind our digital presence, transforming complex climate policy, data, and partnership updates into compelling, visual stories. Based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, you will collaborate with global teams to elevate the visibility of early action initiatives that save lives worldwide.
Own the Lifecycle: Conceptualize, draft, design, and publish engaging, on-brand content across all REAP social media platforms.
Amplify Impact: Maintain a consistent digital voice that champions partnership achievements, policy milestones, and global climate actions.
Targeted Campaigns: Strategic execution of social campaigns during key global moments (e.g., G7, COP, UNGA, and EW4All milestones) to drive engagement and policy influence.
Analytics & Growth: Monitor performance metrics and digital trends to continuously optimize our social media reach.
Storytelling: Write sharp, accessible copy for blogs, newsletters, and website updates.
Multimedia Production: Produce short-form video content (reels, event recaps, explainer videos) and basic graphic assets using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
Knowledge Translation: Partner with policy and insights teams to translate technical climate data into visually striking, easily digestible public content.
Strategic Alignment: Coordinate communication strategies across the Secretariat, aligning outputs with the REAP 2030 Strategy.
Event Support: Boost the visibility of high-level board meetings, regional events, and global policy dialogues through targeted coverage.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
Experience: At least 3 years of professional experience in communications and social media management.
Tools: Proven proficiency with digital design and editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, CapCut, Premiere Pro).
Skills: Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with a track record of translating complex knowledge into highly engaging public narratives.
Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate a multicultural, virtual, and fast-paced team environment.
A post-graduate degree in Communications or a related field.
Good command of another official IFRC language (French, Spanish, or Arabic).
