The GIZ Office in Addis Ababa oversees projects in Ethiopia and Djibouti where GIZ works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Federal Ministry of Nutrition and Agriculture (BMEL) and other commissioning parties

Cleaning Staff Member Core tasks

In your role you carry out the cleaning duties assigned to you. You perform the tasks assigned to you smoothly and promptly and observe strict hygiene regulations at all times. You use cleaning agents and chemicals correctly.

You ensure that the work environment is pleasant and clean.

You complete the tasks assigned to you correctly and on schedule with due regard for the targets and conditions specified by your line manager.

You communicate information related to your area of work and complete the duties assigned to you when deputizing for your colleagues.

You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required

Tasks

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the office, conference rooms, and its respective premises.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, mirrors within offices using appropriate tools
• Ensure regular availability of hot coffee and tea with milk powder and sugar at designated stations
• Serves coffee and tea to guests and visitors upon request from colleagues
• Proactively replenish consumable items before depletion
• Check the “In and outgoing files” on message-trays in a timely fashion
• Prepare and serve refreshments for staff during meetings & other events for up to 20 people
• Clean up after end of events by collecting trash and other items
• Run official errands
• Reports damages of office premises and equipment immediately
• Perform any other duties as deemed necessary by superior/s
• Comply with GIZ Orientation and Rules and the GIZ Ethiopia National Personnel Policy

Qualifications and specialist area

• Primary school education
• A minimum of three years’ professional experience in a comparable role, with references
• Ideally, a basic knowledge of English or German
• Ability to act sensitively in handling and disposing of potentially important documents
• Reliability and good organizational skills
• A team player
