About the Organization

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is an Ethiopian non-profit organization established in 2020 with a mission of striving to meet the humanitarian and developmental needs of societies regardless of race, color, religion or cultural background. We are legally registered to work in Ethiopia (Reg. 5164) as National NGO and as INGO in South Sudan (Reg. 4178), Somalia (Reg. NGOD/Moifar0422/022) and Kenya (OP.218/051/22-400/12732); it is also processing its registration in Yemen. We are currently seeking an experienced Cashier to join our mission-driven organization.

Job Summary

The Cashier will handle financial transactions, provide efficient and accurate cashier services, he /she will be responsible for processing tax transaction (income tax, pension & withholding), handling Cash & Cheque. Your primary goal will be to deliver excellent financial service while maintaining proper cash control and compliance with the organization policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle cash, credit or check transactions with customers
• Scan goods and collect payments
• Ensure pricing is correct
• Issue change, receipts, refunds, or tickets
• Redeem stamps and coupons
• Count money in cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change
• Make sales referrals, cross-sell products and introduce new ones
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them and provide relevant information
• Bag items carefully
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas
• Keep reports of transactions
• Process returns and check to see if items are damaged
• Pleasantly deal with customers to ensure satisfaction
• Ensure that the store is kept clean and organized.
• Collect payment weather in cash or credit.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

• Diploma/BA Degree in Accounting & Finance /Management/ Economics,

Experience

• Diploma Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a cashier or related,
• BA minimum of 2 years’ experience as cashier or related,
