Job Description
Background
Ethiopia’s next general elections are anticipated in 2026. To strengthen democratic participation and inclusive politics, the Ethiopian Political Parties Joint Council (EPPJC) will deliver modular capacity-building to political parties and candidates, with a particular focus on women, youth, and persons with disabilities (PWDs). We seek to establish a vetted roster of expert trainers, facilitators, and coaches able to deliver short, practical trainings and clinics across various regions throughout the country.
All trainings must be Ethiopia‑specific: grounded in local political processes, media habits, geography, cultural calendars, and accessibility needs. Trainers must demonstrate proven experience within political processes or adjacent disciplines that build public trust and voter engagement—for example strategic communications, public relations, community organizing, market research, or strategy consulting.
Applicants may apply for one or more modules with the following focus areas:
1. Political Communication
- Message development & discipline
- Effective political communication
- Public speaking and debate preparation
- Building a communication strategy
- Data-driven targeting / analytics
- Local and national media relations
- Rumor/ misinformation response
2. Political Campaigning
- Strategic campaign planning
- Voter targeting, contact and outreach
- Team building
- Field organizing and “get out the vote” strategies
- Campaign volunteer management
Scope of Work
- Co-create localized training materials (slides, handouts, checklists) with guidance from EPPJC staff
- Facilitate 1–3 day workshops (in-person), including practical exercises and coaching with support from EPPJC staff
About You
- 10+ yrs relevant experience designing and providing political training curricula and ToT
- Expertise in area of training
- Strong facilitation skills and knowledge of adult-learning methods
- Ability to adapt content to various Ethiopian regions
- Proven training delivery to political actors or civic groups in Ethiopia or comparable contexts
- Based in Ethiopia, fluency in Amharic and English
- Experience working in a political setting in Ethiopia or abroad is an asset
