Reports To: Head of Business Intelligence / General Manager, Intelligent Financial Services

Location: Addis Ababa (Hybrid/Field Support as Required)

Role Overview

We are looking for a Business Intelligence & Data Analyst to join our high-growth fintech team. This role is a hybrid of analytics, product thinking, and business performance management. You’ll be responsible for turning raw operational data into actionable insights that shape strategic decisions, track growth, improve merchant and borrower performance, and enhance asset quality.

Your work will power dashboards, performance reviews, and strategic reports across digital lending, merchant services, and embedded finance platforms. Key Responsibilities

Business Understanding & Data Exploration

• Collaborate with business teams to understand core performance indicators
• Define key metrics: disbursement volume, collection trends, activation rates, repayment velocity, churn, asset quality signals, etc.
• Translate analytical questions into structured data queries

Data Modeling & Transformation

• Extract and clean data from internal databases and digital platforms
• Create organized, reliable datasets using SQL, Python, or Excel
• Tag and segment data by business dimensions: region, channel, customer type, product iteration, etc.

Dashboard Design & Reporting Automation

• Build intuitive dashboards using Metabase, Power BI, or Google Data Studio
• Automate recurring reports to reduce manual work and improve access to real-time metrics
• Ensure accurate, traceable KPIs for internal use, partner banks, and strategic decision-makers

Business Analysis & Insight Generation

• Analyze portfolio trends and performance signals across merchant and borrower segments
• Develop hypotheses to explain trends, validate product assumptions, and inform strategy
• Generate actionable insights that support platform growth, risk management, and operations

Strategic Communication & Documentation

• Prepare concise insight decks and performance memos for executives and external partners
• Respond quickly to ad hoc data requests with clarity and accuracy
• Contribute to monthly and quarterly reviews with partners and regulators

Who We’re Looking For

• Degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or related field
• 1–3 years of experience in BI, analytics, or reporting (preferably in fintech or digital platforms)
• Strong in:
  • SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Excel/Google Sheets
  • Dashboard tools (Metabase, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Python or R (a plus, not mandatory)
• Excellent communication — able to make data meaningful to non-technical teams
• Curious, proactive, structured thinker who works well under pressure
• Bonus: Familiarity with credit performance, merchant behavior, or digital finance ecosystems
