About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS) was established in 1935 and is one of the oldest and largest humanitarian organizations in Ethiopia. ERCS provides services to communities affected by natural and manmade disasters through the provision of emergency responses, ambulance and first aid, family reunification, essential drugs, water and sanitation, and other humanitarian services. ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. Currently the ERCS has a structure consisting of 12 Regional Offices, 34 Zonal Branches and 131 District/Woreda Branches, 599 Woreda Red Cross Committee and 5871 Kebele Red Cross committees.

ERCS also runs disaster risk reduction programs relating to food security, climate change adaptation, livelihood diversification, and institutional capacity building interventions, with the aim of creating resilience households and communities. ERCS works in partnership with the Ethiopian Government, International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), partnering National Societies, members, volunteers and the communities we serve.

Job Description:

The Ethiopian Red Cross Society is seeking a talented and experienced Video Editing & Graphics Design Expert to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating engaging visual content that effectively communicates the mission, values, and activities of the Ethiopian Red Cross Society. The candidate will work closely with our communication team to produce high-quality videos, animations, and graphics for various platforms including social media, websites, and promotional materials.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conceptualize, storyboard, and execute video projects from start to finish.
2. Edit raw footage into compelling and visually appealing videos that align with the organization’s objectives.
3. Create motion graphics, animations, and visual effects to enhance video content.
4. Design graphics and layouts for print and digital materials such as brochures, posters, banners, and newsletters.
5. Collaborate with the communication team to develop creative concepts and strategies for visual content.
6. Ensure consistency in branding and messaging across all visual materials.
7. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in video editing, motion graphics, and graphic design.
8. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting to: – Head of Humanitarian Diplomacy and Communication Service

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Film Production, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6/4 years of experience in video editing, motion graphics, and graphic design, preferably in a nonprofit or humanitarian organization.
• Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or any other.
• Strong skills in motion graphics and animation using software like Adobe After Effects.
• Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign.
• Excellent understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and typography.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and willingness to take creative direction.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Knowledge of humanitarian issues and familiarity with the work of the Red Cross Society is desirable but not required.
