The International Institute for Primary Health Care-Ethiopia (IPHC-E) serves as a dynamic center dedicated to strengthening primary health care (PHC) systems, especially in low- and middle-income countries. To sustain its expanding portfolio of strategic initiatives, IPHC-E is seeking a highly capable Analyst with strong strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and problem-solving skills. The Analyst will contribute to high-impact projects in PHC reform, global health strategy, systems design, and institutional performance improvement.

The Role

As an Analyst at IPHC-E, you will serve as a pivotal member of the team, driving evidence-based strategies and supporting the delivery of transformative health initiatives. In this role, you will collaborate with both national and international stakeholders, contributing to all stages of the project lifecycle—from in-depth problem assessment and solution design to strategic implementation and performance monitoring. Your work will span multiple thematic areas, providing critical support to Institute leadership while helping to shape and execute innovative approaches that strengthen primary health care systems worldwide.

  • Apply structured problem-solving and advanced analytical techniques to address challenges in primary health care systems, policy, and institutional performance.
  • Support the formulation of robust strategies, frameworks, business plans, and operational models for national and regional health sector initiatives.
  • Develop high-impact presentations, reports, and policy briefs for both internal leadership and external partners, ensuring clarity and actionable insights.
  • Lead desk research, conduct stakeholder interviews, perform benchmarking, and execute in-depth data analysis to guide evidence-based decision-making.
  • Assist in the design and facilitation of stakeholder workshops and strategic planning sessions to drive alignment and consensus among diverse groups.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of ongoing initiatives, tracking progress against key milestones and performance indicators.
  • Support the cultivation of strategic partnerships with leading global and regional health organizations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within the Institute and with external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and knowledge sharing.

About You

The strongest candidates will have at least 2 years of professional experience strategy consulting, management consulting, or policy advisory roles. In addition to relevant experience with the responsibilities listed above, we’ll be looking for someone with a strong track record of:

  • Proven ability to conduct rigorous data analysis, develop quantitative models, and apply critical thinking to complex challenges.
  • Demonstrated track record of structuring problems, generating actionable insights, and driving self-directed execution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills in both English and Amharic (a plus) ; aptitude for stakeholder engagement and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical/dataset analytics capabilities; comfortable learning new tools.
  • Experience managing multiple workstreams under tight timelines, with a keen attention to detail and a professional, results-oriented approach.
  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous learning; additional language skills (especially regional working languages) are a plus.
