The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises. Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Our work focuses on innovative research, partnering for impact, and engaging with stakeholders on policies and practices to benefit people and the planet. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food secure future dedicated to reducing poverty, enhancing food and nutrition security, and improving natural resources.

Overview


CIFOR-ICRAF and The Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health (CA4SH), in collaboration with GIZ, is undertaking an advocacy and communication initiative to highlight the critical role of soil health in advancing food security, climate action, biodiversity, and ecosystem restoration. As part of this initiative, visual communication products are required to strengthen policy engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and awareness-raising in the lead-up to COP30

Duties and responsibilities


1.       Objectives of the assignment

The objective of this consultancy is to design and deliver high-quality, interactive infographics that demonstrate soil health as central to achieving global food security, biodiversity, and climate goals.

2.       Tasks and Deliverables

  • Develop three (3) infographics that:
  • Highlight soil health integration into policy frameworks.
  • Illustrate approaches to soil health monitoring.
  • Emphasize stakeholder collaboration on soil health.
  • Co-design the infographics in collaboration with CIFOR-ICRAF, CA4SH and GIZ to ensure alignment with the overall communication strategy.
  • Integrate the infographics into the Interactive Landing Page and the Resource Centre of the CIFOR-ICRAF and CA4SH website, ensuring ease of access as a one-stop-shop for soil health information.
  • Collaborate with the CIFOR-ICRAF and CA4SH Communications Director and Coordinator to design, test, and implement the infographics on the Coalition’s digital platforms.
  • Support advocacy efforts by ensuring the infographics are adaptable and usable within the high-level advocacy campaign leading up to and during COP30.

Detailed Deliverables and Outputs

  • Three completed infographics as described above.
  • Infographics uploaded and accessible on the CIFOR-ICRAF and CA4SH website (Resource Centre and Interactive Landing Page).
  • Visual products packaged for use within the COP30 advocacy campaign

Requirements

  • Has proven track record in delivering soil health infographics.
  • Has knowledge of the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health.
  • Has proven track record in online delivery.
  • Works well in a collaborative environment.
  • Has experience with the Coalition of Action 4 Soil Health, UNFCCC COP events and communications.?
