Job Description
Reports to: College Counsellor
Leading the university application process
- To assist the Counsellor and advocate of Students in Yr 12 and 13 with universities around the world.
- To have a clear understanding and support the American admissions process.
- To be aware and assist of the Pan European admissions process such as UCAS
- To clearly understand funding streams for Ethiopian and other international students to secure university places
- Have experience of assisting students
- Assisting in Writing personal statements
- Essays of application
- Completing and checking application forms.
- assist develop a planned programme of careers and university guidance to be delivered discreetly or as part of a PSHE.
- assist to organize visiting speakers from universities and the professions
- Assist to Develop and maintain a guidance library ensuring it is stocked with the latest global opportunities.
- Assist to liaise with the British Council and Embassies in securing an educational links that might assist transition into higher education.
- Assist in facilitating parent education on higher education through workshops and presentations
- Work with individual families offering bespoke guidance to them.
- Assist to Deliver training sessions to staff in areas such as personal statement and reference writing and support staff who find these areas difficult.
- Assist our sixth form students in preparation for highly competitive courses such as medicine, law etc.
- Support any Oxbridge or Ivy League admissions testing and provide practice interviews.
- Assist the administration of any PSAT, SAT and GMAT
- Support the Bridge-U platform.
- Support regular one to one guidance meetings with all Yr 12 & 13 students regarding their university applications.
- assist for booking for Careers interview for all students in the Senior Phase using an online booking portal e.g. signup.com
Managing the Careers support for students
- Assist the implementation of and continue the expansion of the Careers Education Program for Yrs 9 to 11.
- Support Counsellor of KS4/KS5 in Organisation of careers fairs and other careers events.
About You
- Bachelor Degree in Education, Counselling
- passionate about supporting our students on their journey to Higher Education
- highly motivated, with a successful track record of working with a wide range of staff, students, and families
- experience in dealing with external agencies e.g. Universities, Collages and other NGO’s
- show a commitment to and enjoyment of school life within and beyond the curriculum
- able to communicate effectively and have a repertoire of inter-personal skills which motivate, lead, support, and challenge other colleagues be committed to the safeguarding of students
