Role Summary
The Human Resources Associate is responsible for overseeing the staff contract, attendance, and human resources-related issues efficiently. Working closely with the Programme Coordinator and Senior Managers, you will support multiple recruitment processes, maintain accurate personnel records, ensure compliance with Ethiopian labour law, support staff welfare and embed HALO’s HR policies consistently across the programme.

HR Administration and Record Management

- Follow up with staff on sick leave, ensuring that valid medical documentation is obtained and recorded.

Appraisals and Performance Management
- Support the coordination and collection of annual appraisals across departments.
- Follow up with supervisors to ensure appraisals are completed and submitted on time.
Recruitment and Onboarding
- Assist in recruitment processes, including posting internal adverts, preparing interview documents, scheduling interviews, and supporting onboarding and induction processes.

Training and Capacity Building

About Unity Demining Solutions
Unity Demining Solutions (UDS) is an Ethiopian non-governmental organization registered with the ACSO since 2024, dedicated to the provision of mine clearance and risk education, with a diverse staff from military and civilian backgrounds, founded by 05 retired veteran Senior General officers. UDS is currently in partnership with The HALO Trust, the world’s oldest and largest humanitarian demining organisation, with 10,000 staff in 30 countries. HALO has been registered in Ethiopia since 2021 and established mine action operations in Afar region in 2025. UDS is jointly deploying teams with HALO in the Afar Regional State since 2025, bringing together ENDF veterans and HALO-trained civilians. UDS is now looking for a dynamic programme officer to strengthen their HQ team in Addis.
The recent 2020–2022 armed conflict in Tigray has left large areas of northern Ethiopia contaminated with explosive ordnance. Spillover of combat operations and explosive remnants of war (ERW) from Tigray impacted neighbouring Afar, home to pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities who rely on access to grazing land for survival. UDS intends to grow its work with HALO in northern Ethiopia to address this pressing and long-term humanitarian and development issue.
About the role:
Unity Demining Solutions is seeking a Programme Officer (PO) to join their team in its Addis HQ. The Programme Officer will play a central role in ensuring the effective management, delivery and communication of the UDS activities in Ethiopia. This role combines programme coordination, donor and contract management, external engagement, monitoring and evaluation. The Programme Officer, under the supervision of the UDS General Manager, will oversee donor reporting and proposal writing, gather and analyse operational data to track progress against targets, engage with donors and stakeholders, and represent UDS publicly on behalf of the programme.

Duties and Responsibilities
Donor Engagement
• Support the UDS General Manager in seeking out new funding opportunities.

HALO is registered in Ethiopia since 2021, and is now actively looking to establish mine action operations in the Afar Region. To do so, HALO is looking to recruit a qualified and dynamic Office Manager responsible for the overall administration of HALO’s soon-to-be-opened office in Afar.
Role Summary
The Multitask Team Supervisor holds full responsibility for the planning, coordination, and execution of Non-Technical Survey and Explosive Ordnance Disposal operations in the field. This is a roving, field-based role, operating in deployment cycles with scheduled stand-downs for rest and recovery. The Supervisor leads a dedicated team of four members, ensuring all activities are conducted safely, ethically, and in line with HALO’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Ethiopia National Mine Standards (ENMAS), and International Mine Action Standards (IMAS). He/She is responsible for all aspects of safety, efficient operations, administration, and discipline within the team.
In addition to core survey responsibilities, the role requires flexibility to support Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) callouts in coordination with other International Operators and regional institutions as needed. This position is central to HALO’s efforts to reduce the threat of explosive hazards and improve the safety and security of conflict-affected communities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership:

Safety and Security

Data Collection
- Ensure the reliability and integrity of data collected by following HALO’s Non-technical Survey SOP which aligns with the ENMAS and IMAS

Explosives Ordnance Callouts
- Supervisors will get a task order through the radio room in Samara Office, where they may be required to travel to anywhere in the region that the need be.
- Within EOD qualification limits, dispose mines & UXO found during tasks. Strictly adhere to the EOD SOPs.
- Ensure the safety of all your team, civilians and visitors.
- Follow the work plan provided by HQ. If any changes or additions are made, they must be approved by HQ.
- Maintain and keep account of all explosives.
- Ensure all kit EOD kit is kept to a high standard, through undertaking a kit maintenance check once a week.
- At the end of task, the supervisor will be required to fill EOD Call out report through survey123 form and submit it to the main system.
Medical
- Ensure that the ICP (medic) trained staff maintain the teams’ medical kits and keep these ready for use as per HALO’s medical SOPs.
- In the event of an accident provide direction for ICP trained staff, ensuring details are recorded and reported immediately, and ICP staff appropriately treat any casualties.
- Conduct regular CASEVAC practices as directed by the medic.
- Take part in regular ICP refresher training.
Quality Control
- Review and verify the quality of the NTS reports before submission through Survey123.
- If any data is unclear or incomplete, follow up to gather additional information to ensure the report meets the highest standards of accuracy.
Reporting
- Produce and submit comprehensive NTS reports through Survey123 mobile data collection.

HALO Ethiopia is seeking qualified Finance and Accounting Officer based in Addis with frequent travel to other programme locations. The role will contribute to strong financial governance, donor compliance, and the efficient use of programme resources.
This role combines financial accounting, grant management, compliance, and internal control functions. The Finance & Accounting Officer, under the supervision of the International Finance Manager (IFM), will support financial reporting and budget monitoring, record and reconcile transactions in the accounting system, verify payment documentation and prepare payment vouchers, and ensure compliance with donor requirements, organisational policies, and local regulations. The role will also contribute to cash and bank management, payroll processing, and audit support, while working closely with programme and operations teams to maintain financial integrity and accountability across the programme.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting and Financial Control:
- Support the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, bank reconciliations, and cash flow statements.
