2026 African Development Bank Group (AfDB) –Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) Scholarship Opportunities

INTRODUCTION

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and the Shanghai Ocean University (SHOU) are pleased to invite interested and qualified Africans to apply for the 2026 SHOU International Summer School of Food Science and Engineering which starts 1st July to 15th July 2026.

The aim of the food science and engineering scholarship programs is to strengthen Africa’s institutional and technical capacity in sustainable food science, processing technologies, and value chain development, in alignment with global priorities for food security and sustainability.

SHOU is a world-class, globally recognized, research-oriented university specializing in marine science, aquaculture, and ocean governance.  It collaborates with over 40 international institutions and global organizations, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable aquatic development and food systems.

SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE

For all successful applicants, the scholarships will cover:

• Full tuition, accommodation, meals, and monthly stipends.
• Access to world-class faculty and state-of-the-art research facilities.
• Specialized professional training in marine and aquatic sciences.

Note: Successful candidates will be responsible for flight tickets and visa fees.

STUDY PERIOD

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Be a national of the AfDB’s Regional Member Country (RMC, in good physical and mental health.
2. Foreign students and scholars currently enrolled or employed at overseas higher education institutions, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, and young researchers (excluding all international students already studying in China).
3. Capable of conducting academic learning, interpersonal communication and professional work in English.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Academic Lectures, Practical Training, Site Visits, Cultural Activities, Summary and Assessments in Food Science and Engineering.

COSTS COVERED

Tuition, accommodation, insurance, cultural experience and other expenses. Participants are responsible for their international travel and visa application fees.
