Overview

An Instrument Operator is responsible for the operation, inspection, calibration, and maintenance of field instrumentation and control systems used to monitor and regulate industrial processes. This role ensures that all instruments—such as pressure, flow, level, and temperature sensors—are functioning accurately and reliably to maintain safe and efficient plant operations.

Main Job Description

1. Operate, monitor, and perform routine checks on instrumentation equipment used in LNG production and processing.
2. Assist in the calibration, testing, and adjustment of various types of field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analytical).
3. Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instrumentation devices in accordance with established procedures and safety standards.
4. Collaborate with engineers, control room operators, and maintenance personnel to identify and resolve instrumentation-related issues.
5. Record and report instrument readings, anomalies, and operational data accurately.
6. Support the commissioning and start-up of instrumentation systems during plant turnarounds or new project phases.
7. Maintain proper documentation of all maintenance activities, calibrations, and instrument configurations.
8. Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures, including permit-to-work systems and lock-out/tag-out practices.
9. Participate in risk assessments, toolbox talks, and safety audits.
10. Complete temporary tasks assigned by leaders.

Education:

• BSc. Degree in Electrical engineering or related fileds

Skills & Competencies:

1. Strong understanding of instrumentation principles, signal types (analog/digital), and loop systems.
2. Proficiency in using calibration and testing tools (e.g., multimeters, pressure calibrators, HART communicators).
3. Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument datasheets.
4. Good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
5. Team-oriented with strong communication skills.
6. Committed to safety, accuracy, and continuous learning.
7. Familiarity with pneumatic, electronic, and smart digital instruments.
8. Experience with PLC/DCS systems, control valves, and transmitters preferred.
